Agreed. Playing the whole "I like being overlooked/underdog" card only really applies when we are ready to go to war with the squad we have. National attention is welcome here as far as I'm concerned. Get the nation buzzing about us and maybe players like Dwight won't have to be hog-tied to bring in.

By not being a douchebag about it.

Bigger things to worry about before they happen. Like how you'll die sooner or later.

I'm a Rockets fan when we had the greatest player in the world Hakeem and I'm Rockets fan when we had Luther Head. It doesn't change anything that we got Jeremy Lin.

I'm happy we have a chance to be a good team. Dwight Howard or Bynum or anybody.

if it makes you happy that the Rockets get more press and show that we have a popular player then go pop a bottle.

i'll pop some bottles if we win a championship.

Have tinman clobber the GARM, and hopefully that will annoy the LOFs.

I remember watching videos and the hype around Lin during last season's training camp when we signed him to play before we cut him. He seemed like a hardworking player and he was Asian.

I remember him playing spotty minutes in Golden state too. Hope he works out well here and we actually keep him. Sadly I see maybe him doing well and possibly the Magic holding out till Jan 15 and trying to get him and maybe D.mo with fillers. Would suck I think if we made that trade for Howard then. :(

But I doubt that Lin can create same amount of Chinese fan base like Yao did. After all, he's American. I myself never visited Nick's fan site for example.

I'm waiting for the Lin > Drexler thread , ready to destroy the LOFs ;)

like I mentioned before, some people just like the hype more than the game

The Rockets never got this hype when we had this Hakeem guy and he's like 100 billion times better than every single hyped guy we ever had after him.

I was really happy during that period, so were the other Rocket fans, we never got Hype City...

    we got CLUTCH CITY

How about we just ignore them entirely. That's what I like about rep. If you have fewer than 2 bars I rarely talk to you. Let's be elitist about rep, not about why you're a Rockets fan.

Here is a serious proposal. Make a sticky called the Lin shrine so the Lin loving can concentrate there without disturbing the rest of rockets loving.

No the point of this thread is that the OP is going to have problems sifting through the GARM for threads by REAL ROCKETS FANS instead of a fan of only one player.

you know people who talk about the game .

That is what happens when someone's head is so stuck up their own ass they can't hear what anyone else is saying.

Well Lin, Yao and well players like Deke were about being ambassadors or Icons off the court.
They took Rockets off the court and into the news that were beyond just sports.
Hakeem did that partly, but it's another generation. Web helps.

Perhaps if we are nice to them they will become Rockets fans like thousands (millions?) of Yao fans did.
