defensive driving since you can do it once a year and not have to deal with anything else. It involves: a) Take defensive driving b) pay the court costs deferred adjudication is usually more expensive, since most court now seem to have their terms as: a) Take defensive driving b) don't get a ticket in X months in X county (or the whole state) c) pay the court costs + fine Both get the ticket off your record...the latter costs more since you have to take defensive driving anyway now. You should call the court and ask them if that's the case for their court...and you can also call to request it (instead of having to go in and ask the judge or DA)
I also heard about telling them you are going to take defensive driving then never do it. Your ticket will be put into another "stack" then basically forgotten.
This is what I did. I was unable to take defensive driving, so in order to prevent my insurance premium for going up or having it be on my record, I called one of the traffic lawyers (Sullo & Sullo) I received a letter from in the mail. I went to court, sat around for a few hours, and finally got my ticket dismissed. I only spend like $75 for the lawyer fees, too.
so those traffic lawyers aren't just a scam? their dirty tricks actually work and you don't have to do defensive driving or any of that? i got a ticket recently and some of those letters from lawyers but just did DD anyway. i guess if i get another one within the year time limit i can try them.
