Drive it hard on the test drive. Accelerate fast and brake super hard and let go of the steering wheel to see if it steers straight. Go on a level road and let go of the steering wheel to see if the alignment is in check. After a good, hard test drive, turn off the car and examine the engine for a couple minutes and look for any leaks or strange noises. Also let the engine idle and listen to the engine for any weird noises. Also as stated in here already, have it checked out by a mechanic.
