Tony Parker made Steve Nash his b**** in the blow out win against the Sun. I have mentioned again and again: contain Nash and the Rockets win in a decisive manner. This is that game that most of the scoring should come from yao and TMac, and the rest of the team just hit open shots.
Yao returned the favor in the 4th quarter by dunking 3 times over Amare. Of course, Amare was such a sissy that he fled to the sideline to avoid humiliation.
Sit Yao down and have a heart to heart with him... Yao, this personal. It is time you unleash yourself, I want you to go early, go strong, and go hard right at Armare. Remember how you went hard at Shaq? Well it is time to send a message, go hard right at him. Give Yao the ball, tell him to ball fake Armare off his feet and then hit the shot draw the foul. And Yao, don't defend him with your hands up like your going to surrender as you get called for the blocking foul. Jump off your feet at swat the ball away. If your goining to pick up a foul do it blocking like a beast, not retreating like a awkward lunk. Yao asserts, everything else falls into place. But we better have a plan B
It's hard to beat the Suns. You can't double-team Amare because Q, Joe Johnson, and Nash would have a field day. The best way is to let Amare get his numbers. If you watch enough Suns games, they cant put teams away even Amare scores like Madman. If we can contain their 3pters and Nash, Rox won easily. I think Yao would have a field day because Suns doesn't play defense. Let Yao go 1-on-1 and drop 50 on Amare.
Yao always plays well against Amare and I can expect the same. Knowing the way Amare is, he will try to humiliate Yao and show him up. Yao usually responds well when players try to do this so I hope he steps up and drops 30-35 on him. As good as Amare is, I would take Yao over him because Amare can't shoot worth anything, he is all dunks. Without Nash getting him easy baskets he wouldn't be doing as well as he is this season. I see the Rockets stepping it up and beating the Suns.
It'll be a good game to watch (especially on National TV)......controlling Nash is the key........our new guards will have a big test ahead of them.....good thing we have a few days to rest before playing these guys and good thing Amare got his 50 pt game out of the way......... You guys think this game is going to test the trades we made?
Now that T-Mac is back at SF, he should take care of Marion and our backcourt is bigger and theirs so they should be able to hold them in check. Yao will need to bring his game cause if he does, then we have a big advantage there. The only big mismatch that I can see in this game will be Amare vs. Mo T and Howard. They aren't nearly physical enough to stop him. Look for another big game from Amare.
How to beat the suns? Before the game, get some diehard rox fans into the suns lockeroom and poop in their shoes. Or like the above poster mentioned, score a couple more points than they do. woot.
Tell Howard and Taylor to try their best to limit Amare. If they don't play toughest defense, Yao will be in foul trouble by the end of first quarter.
Amare is not as important as Nash to the Suns. Maybe a Deke bow to Nash and knock him out of game. Suns still have lots of fire power without Amare.
imagine what the Suns are thinking..... front Yao, harrass him w/ guard double teams and strip the ball out of his hands Double Tmac constantly and force the ball out of his hands Offensive rebounds stop Sura from penetration- make them score form outside with a hand in their face let Mo Tay get the ball, he won't pass and he is a very streaky shooter.
I think the keys have been mentioned already: 1) Contain Nash. He makes the Suns go, not Amare. If Amare gets his and nobody else does, a win for them isn't guaranteed. 2) Go strong to Yao early. If Yao doesn't play well, the Rockets lose. In the second quarter against the Jazz, it was immediately apparent that short of Yao and Deke, the Rockets have no true size. Yao can't afford to take himself out of the game. PLUS, Phoenix starts Amare at C. I don't care how athletic he is, Yao should be able to get him in foul trouble. The best way to contain a player offensively, make him play defense. 3) Rebound. It's okay if the Rockets get out-rebounded. If they get outrebounded 30-12 in the first half (or second half, etc.), they have no chance. 4) Hit open shots. Don't have to be superman, but the Suns are not a great halfcourt defensive team. Rotate the ball, hit the open three's. 5) Keep turnovers down. They are too good of a fastbreaking team to just say play good transition defense. They will either still score or get you in foul trouble. Limiting their transition opportunities is more important.
Very true. This Suns team has FIVE very good players. They do not have a strong bench but all of their starters, may be except Nash, can play 46 mins a game. The only way to force them to go to their bench is to put their starters into foul troubles. We will be in business if Amare picks up 2 quick fouls in the 1st quarter. Yao is pretty good at forcing his man to foul him. Go Rockets!!!
