Mike James !!! are you out of your mind. Why would we try hard to get him last year and then get him this year to just trade him away. Place Alston in for James cause james is stayin
How much time did it take for Pau Gasol to make a transition? How about Nocioni, I thought Varejao (sp?) starting making significant contributions almost right away. Is Scola possibly as good or better than any of those?
I said in the other thread that I don't think it will take him that much to make the transition. He will be able to have a lot of the pressure taken off by playing with Yao & Tmac....he will probably be getting single coverage for the first time in 5 years. I suspect he will do quite well, the only issue I am afraid of is foul trouble, but with Chuck Hayes to back him up, I think the Rockets are LOADED this year. Top 3 in the WC...here we come !!! ALL ABOARD....CHOO CHOO !!!! DD
My Starting 5: PG - James SG - Bonzi SF - TMac PF - Scola C - Yao First group off of the bench: Brooks - I hope he proves himself enough to warrent playing time as a back up just like a lotto pick would. Yeah I know he is not a lotto pick. Battier Head Hayes Deke The rest: Landry - Will he make the team? I think the Rockets hope so, better offense than Chuck but not much else so far. Novak - Has a lot to prove. Looks bad in summer league. Will he be out of a job next summer? Traded sooner? Alston - Keep him as a 3rd string in case Brooks does not pan out or hits a rookie wall. Reed - With two years left on his contract I guess he sticks Harris - I'm pulling for him but we will see if he can be effective against real NBA players this fall. Lucas - As good as gone Snyder - He goes no where. could be a rotation player or a future starter. Sura - retires or traded but so long anyway. Butler - Hope to see him move past Deke in the rotation this year. Thats 19 players so we know 4 have to go. Out of the 4 we know Lucas and Sura are both as good as gone. Players that I think are almost certainly going to stay are Snyder, Butler and Alston That leaves Reed, Harris, Landry, Novak of which we need to dump at least 2. Reed is the most logical because he has been a dud / spare the longest. Having said that he has a 2 year garunteed contract. Is it possible to trade him for a big bag of nothing? I doubt it. Harris is a guy that will have to prove himself in the fall. He is easily dispatched..but what if he continues to prove his worth against real NBA compitition? Novak has looked horrible in the summer league. If we wanted to trade him then surely someone would be willing to take a risk on a young expiring contract that can shoot lights out. He is probably one of the easiest contracts to move. Landry? Do we sign him or just let him develope somewhere else?
How about trading a combination of two or more of Head, Lucas, Snyder or Novak in a sign-and-trade for Jarvis Hayes? He would be tremendous off the bench and give us a another wing player with actual size. The Wiz are not going to offer him a contract and could use more bodies in the backcourt.
