Yeah, because I clearly mentioned that Head will be dealt so that Alston can stay. And they don't even play the same position. Reading is fundamental.
I concur, although I think they'll just let Alston and James battle it out in camp. But I don't see either one playing significantly more than the other this year.
I noticed Alston's conspicous absence from your post and found it surprising Bill, Dennis, er whatever.
bahahaha! sweet signature man, "that's why I'M a Bball scientist!" anyway, i think alston will be pretty effective with a reduced role. methinks brooks is a little too raw. all alston has to do is run the offense and hit the occasional 3.
It doesn't matter what position, the Rockets still need TALENT. Right now, here's our rotation: Yao, T-Mac, Battier, Scola, Head, James, Bonzi, backup-center, and Alston. Of these players, Bonzi is a huge IF. Alston is a scrub. Head is one-dimensional. So our roster is hardly overwhelming. That said, swingman and combo-guards seem to be the cheapest place to get pure talent. As bigman and pure points are valuable qualities. So I think an upgrade in backup SG/SF seems to be in order to compete with Bonzi.
Get rid of Alston, and we're good to go. Maybe Stan Van Gundy will take him in Orlando in exchange for a 2nd rounder or some cash.
I'd definitly accept Harris Yao/Deke/Hayes Scola/Hayes/Harris T-Mac/Batman/Harris Bonzi/James/Luther Alston/Brooks/James That should be our 12-man Team.. if we could fit one more in I'd take Butler but with only 12 those are the 12 I CHOOSE For my 15 I'd add Butler Snyder Novak
But very unproven. That's the thing. We have so many unknowns here. James(considering his last season), Scola, Bonzi, Snyder... They could be great, they could suck. To stack the odds in the Rockets favor, they need to either change these into more proven players, or simply grab more talent and hope some would pan out.
thats a no offense bench... battier is not a good bench player imo. my starting lineup: yao/butler/deke (3 centers are good, incase of foul trouble) scola/hayes battier/snyder tmac/bonzi rafer/james as for the 12th spot, its either head, brooks, or landry. 13: one of the top two (maybe d-league) 14: the other of the top two (maybe d-league) 15: novak i actualy want to see brooks in the d-league, see what he can do.
i'm pretty sure Les would pay a few bucks, but i think youre right about not trading sura, i think we're going to be trying realy hard to trade reed, novak, and lucas for at least a 2nd round pick or cash consideration. like giving lucas to denver, for cash consideration and the rights for us to switch 2nd round picks this year or 2010.
Head stole his shots? Rafer Alston took 529 three pointers last season. Let me repeat that. FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE. What's worse is he hit 36% percent of them, whereas Luther only took 401 but hit 44% of them. If you ask me, Rafer stole Head's shots. Luther Head is a much better three point shooter, and he is valuable to us as such. Rafer Alston is a detriment offensively, because he gets into those "Rafer-time" mindsets and tries to do it all himself. 37.5% from the field. That is atrocious. He needs to step back and pass the damn ball. He was a sub-par PG last season, and should be benched this season because of that. Rafer was terrible at leading the team, which is why we had to run the offense through Tracy McGrady. Rafer could've easily averaged around 8-9 APG, and he should have. Next time, maybe he'll actually try playing point and PASSING the ball even more. Taking over 1000 shots is ludacris.
I hate to be a downer, but I wouldn't be surprised at this point if the Rockets just decided to sit tight for a while. The roster appears to largely be in order, with maybe a few tweaks. I think this Scola deal was unbelievably terrific.
