I don't understand why Bill Ingram is frowned upon here. I've heard him interviewed on both 790 and 1560 before and he seems legit. I think he was on No Layups. Did he ruffle some feathers around here at some point?
I've emailed him once about an article he wrote. My questions/points ended up being a Greek source regarding Spanoulis.
"Jack Sickma will be working with Yao Ming, Jordan Hill, and now Jordan Hill." Fail. There were several other things that were blatantly wrong in the writeup, and a couple other completely failed sentences. Adulation from sub-par writers is like receiving a compliment about your looks from the lady at the grocery store with 3 teeth.
Yeah, it is not professional writing like you get from here, especially from Clutch etc..... But, for a small blog...it is an ok read from time to time. DD
These 'lacking professionalism' articles come out during the offseason when there are basketball fans needing their information hit regarding the NBA. This guy probably wouldnt get much of a look in during the regular season or during the playoffs. He seeks the lime light when there is a lack of good articles, especially about the Rockets.
Yao Ming is just coming of surgery! Are you mad?! You expect him to drop 20-15-3 on 65% FG the year he came out of surgery? We'll be lucky if he averages close to 16 and 6! Pau Gasol is better offensively than Yao Ming even when Yao was healthy. He's more versatile, more agile, can hit inside-and-out, pick-out-and-pop, and can pass and move more fluidly than Yao Ming ever could. Just because you're forced to change your roster on-the-fly doesn't mean you're good at it. How many times have we lost to inferior teams during RA's tenure? Whenever a team loses to a clearly inferior one its the coach's fault. whether its through faulty tactics or sucky substitutions. You can't say that RA is great at making substitutions and on-the-fly decisions when we keep losing to inferior teams we should have beaten.
The whole question of whether Yao or DH is better is not particularly useful. Yao is the most dominant on offense. Dwight is the most dominant on defense. Head to head, Yao's offense consistently beats Dwight's defense. Which one you take over the course of a season depends on what else you have on your team and the style of play (and of course how likely Yao will get injured). If you play inside-out, you go with Yao. If you have a dominant wing player, you go with Dwight to grab the offensive boards. If you want durability, you go with DH of course. Gasol is excellent, but isn't as good on offense as Yao or as good on defense as Dwight.
Being a fan doesn't mean having unrealistic expectations, it means rooting for your team through thick and thin. The Clippers fans don't expect their team to win the NBA championship-in fact just getting out of the lottery is like reaching the NBA finals for them-but they still support their team regardless. LOL why is being objective and realistic a bad thing? Are we supposed to be like you and insist Yao Ming is somehow a much better player than the two-time champion Pau Gasol and the 24 year old league leader in blocks and rebs Dwight Howard? Both of those guys are healthier, younger and have accomplished much more than Yao Ming has in their career, yet somehow Yao Ming is STILL the most dominant big man in the league today despite having his season cut short for what, the 4rth time now? I consider Yao Ming to be my 2nd favorite player behind Scola, but that doesn't mean I'm oblivious to his faults. To see that your team is pretty much a long-shot but to get behind it anyway, that's what it means to be a fan
The statement isn't that Yao is the best offensive big man, its "Yao is the most dominant big man". DH isn't exactly Ben Wallace either, he's a league leader in FG% as well with 60% FG. The bolded part of your statement is laughable. Everyone wants durability. What's the point of having an all world player if he doesn't play a single game? C'mon now. The problem is you always use Yao's best seasons as comparisons to other players, when that's all in the past. The current Yao is slow as molasses and dissappears when he gets fronted. Not exactly what I would call dominant. I'd argue that Gasol is the superior offensive player. He's certainly more consistent on a yearly basis.
crazy how Patterson has basically assumed alot of the minutes that Hill was going to get, Pat is going to be a beast when he fully develops I luv his approach and grown man mentality to the game
I was surprised at the number of typos. Doesn't he have the preview function to use before he posts? Really not anything several folks here couldn't write, or haven't written in the past, but certainly optimistic. Being optimistic myself, it was OK.
I don't mind a little bit of optimism from time to time. I thought it was a good read even though many of you think this guy is a joke or whatever. For me, this was just like reading any other post from one of you guys.. A lot of stuff we've known and been talking about throughout the offseason. It's funny how much **** people talk just because of a little typo on here. But I guess if your getting paid to write something, you should at least proofread it.
