Get you an apprenticeship and good luck to ya. If you're willing to do slightly harder schooling, perhaps consider an electrician apprenticeship. They earn more than all other trades as well.

    https://ibew520.org/

Guaranteed 40 hour per week job at least, with an increase in pay every 6 months to a year until you pass your state exam to be a full on journeyman. Log 8,000 or 10,000 hours of journeyman work and then you qualify to become a Master Electrician in which case you start up your own business, hire journeyman and then hire your own apprentices.

If you can't afford tools or books for school at these trades and are below a certain income bracket look at resources like Capital IDEA in your area.

    https://www.capitalidea.org/programs/

They cover that. Are you sharing helpful resources like this to the youths you talk to?

I don't need your advice but I appreciate it. I'm not trying to get rich. My last Finance job was my most challenging and most lucrative.i appreciate your advice

I am not looking to get rich. I started a new job that I enjoy and could further help young black men. I have had some difficulty gaining a foothold in general labor but I'll manage

As far as giving this information to young black men you're not understanding. Forget learning a trade they lack fundamental life lessons about work and responsibility before talking trades. You have to start at the beginning

Poor people generally like the idea of free college education correct? Programs like Capital IDEA cover people's education in it's entirety, including books, parking passes, tools if going into trades as well as free transportation using Austin's public bus and transit while offering a paid internship in the industry they're in school for. If these youths have children, up to 2/3rds of child daycare is covered by Capital IDEA so parents can go to work and school to earn an upward mobility career.

So you get a career with upward mobility, free education, free books, free parking pass, financial assistance in day care, career counselors that help you along your journey that you can go to if running into issues at work, or have trouble understanding a class in school. ACC offers free tutoring and offers even more affordable healthcare packages for college students better than programs like MAP or COBRA for instance. Plus ACC offers psychological/behavioral health counseling on top of career counseling and you don't think that would be helpful for the youths you talk to?

You're all the wisdom they need right? Starting buy into the theory you're just a narcissist.

Well telling everyone that black families suck and blacks need to be less lazy isn't really a solution to any kind of problem. it's a surprising thing coming from a black man. One would think of all people you'd understand the role racism has played in creating ghetto dysfunction and the role racism plays in maintaining it.

But I guess it's just easier to call people lazy and bad.

I always like the strawman I'm referring to all blacks. I'm referring to cyclical poverty. Yes these kids aren't being taught how to improve their life situation

Immigrant groups always get hired at a higher clip. Hispanics are more likely to have been recent immigrants or their parents were.

Then are you recommending them to places like YouthWorks or are you yourself actually working at a place that helps poor struggling youths?

    https://americanyouthworks.org/

I mean what the **** exactly are you doing to help?

Yet you expect the parents to teach them when the parents themselves don't know.

You think immigrants come here and learn the work ethic and what this country has to offer? Don't be so naive.

To come to this country and leave everything you know and love behind isn't easy, only the most ambitious people do it. America sucks out the hardest working slice of any country because the lazy people can't be bothered to leave. Only people with a great work ethic come here in the first place because they are the ones who want to make money. That's why.

So you do nothing but go on a message board to virtue signal how you help poor youths on a basketball message board despite doing nothing? Seems about right. I gave a homeless person some loose change from my side door vehicle once at a red light. I'm curing poverty.

White people aren't immigrants. You don't need to be an immigrant to learn basic fundamentals

It does need to be taught at home and that starts with admitting these problems start at home

White people are an immigrant population you dumbass. Every white person in this country can be traced back to an immigrant seeking a better opportunity, that work ethic and values gets passed down.

Black people were brought here as slaves, broken, and lost all their traditions and even family culture. They were indoctrinated that they were subhuman, and when finally freed after many generations they were left to their own in ghettos. And somehow are suppose to magically figure out how to be successful. It's remarkable the progress blacks in America have achieved to date given what they had to start with and all the barriers placed in front of them.

At least we're moving away from systemic racism. You're making progress.

The culture of cyclical poverty is correctable but you have to start by admitting they exist. Doesn't matter if slavery is the cause. Can't go back in time

So you attribute cyclical poverty to race based culture than the systems that allowed less wealth accumulation for one race over the other? So can you tell me how that culture formed? Genetics?

Hispanics have barely more wealth per median household than African Americans while never being subjugated to 400 years of Jim Crow and slavery.
