I see where you going, and you could very well be right. My hunch is based on what they must haved discussed together when deciding this move. They had to know that they would have to give up money. I still think they are going to give up 3 to 5 each, and somehow, someway they will get it back...

and yes Bima has the goods on this...

With all the drama playing out so far (reported Bosh and Wade unhappy about James's camp leaked they will sign with Miami before their announcement, James needed his own stage to announce signing with Heat...), I am really interested to see how the chemistry among these 3 will be like 1 year form now.

Maybe all the drama don't mean much to them once the season starts, maybe they are just 3 attention seeking divas... I just don't know.

You pretty much don't quality for any exceptions if you're under at the start of the whole deal, even houston didn't qualify for an mle because of mcgrady being injured list in 09, they only got ariza thru injury exception on yao taking his salary off the cap.

Basketball isn't 3 on 3 and the Heat have few resources to fortify spots 4-8 on the roster. They are not even a playoff lock much less a Championship lock.

I'm with all the posters who say we can beat them. The only adjustment we'd have to make is moving Martin to the bench and starting Battier.

Yao dominates whatever crappy center they get. Ariza and Battier defend LeBron and D-Wade respectively. Brooks torches whatever sorry pg they get and Kevin Martin goes off on whoever they manage to fill the bench with....
