How sweet is it going to be when Yao and company beat the Heat for a ring?

Assuming everyone stays healthy, the Heat are probably going to win 55 or more games.

I don't think a Eastern Conf. Championship is a "slam dunk" for them however.

I'm really looking forward to playing them. It should be interesting :)

Whoa did you just say Lebron is the next best player in history next to mj? C'mon lets not crown him yet. He's been in the league seven years hasn't won a ring yet. And don't tell me they didn't get him help either. They brought in shaq, traded for Jamison, and signed moe williams. Olajuwon did more with less. Also great players don't give up which is exactly what he did in the last boston series. Winners never quit and quitters never win.

Take Kobe from the Lakers how many games do they win? 20, maybe 30 games? The point is that it takes both a cast of role players and star players. Heck, Houston without Yao won 42 games, and that was an achievement.

Plus added money from each of the Big 3 that take less for their respective contracts...so more than likely, when the dust settles you're looking at 25 to 30 million.

It would be great to get any one of those guys, but to say that's the only way to get it done is ridiculous.

That is assuming they do take the pay cuts. From what I've read that is not happening. Bosh will come in as a sign and trade which makes him more expensive. Both LeBron and Wade are looking at $16 a piece. Thats at least $48 million for 3 players. Factor in the MLE (which will be around $5.2 million) and the salary cap at $58 million, that isn't much room.

    Rockets vs. Heat

    C Yao > ?
    PF Scola < Bosh
    SF Ariza/Battier < LBJ
    SG Martin < Wade
    PG Brooks/Lowry > Chalmers
    Bench Rockets >>>>>> Heat

There is only 1 basketball. Let's just say the big 3 all average 25 PPG. That's only 75 PPG. Where are they going to get the other 20-30 points from?

While it looks like the Heat have the advantage, they only arguably have the advantage at 3 positions, and this will NOT change because whoever they get to sign for the minimum will not be better than Yao or Brooks/Lowry. Further, their advantage is not huge at PF when you factor in the bench. Their edge at SG is not huge either because Martin is very capable of putting up 18-20 PPG. Their biggest edge is at SF, which just happens to be one of the Rockets strongest positions defensively. The Rockets also have, and will have, a huge edge bench-wise. On paper, I don't think the Big 3 are better than the WHOLE Rockets team.

Interesting, as both Bosh and Wade stated that they(during their little conference call the other day)said they were all taking a cut...

I would assume that the free'd up money from the Beasley trade, plus another 10 total, which isn't really much between themselves, would easily put them into the 25 to 30 range.

I will accept the possibility I am wrong, but from what I read this is why they dealt Beasily in the first place. The freed up cap room gives the ability to sign 3 max contracts.

Now, when you're talking pay cut, how much do you mean?

I couldn't care less who we beat. Let's just get to the Finals and beat the opponent.

I'm not gonna say they are going to take huge cuts, but i would assume, that all 3 could let go of about 3 to 5 more a year. I would also assume they would be getting that back on the tail end of their respective contracts in bonuses and such.

But, it makes more sense if they cut now, and help sign who they need to.

Honestly, do you really think all three of the haven't been of the phone talking to potential "other" team mates?

You said Lebrons the second best player in history. This alone makes anything you say not credible. HAHAHA.

I could score 10-20 points a game with defenses being run ragged by those 3

They don't get the MLE for this season, that only applies to team who exceed the cap when the offseason begins.

Well as for the bonuses portion I'm not sure if they could make up the deficit of what they lose in the pay cuts. The amount that each player signs for will be big, but I don't honestly believe it will be anywhere in the neighborhood of 3-5 mil. At the most I see it being the money they lost by not running a S&T (or just signing with their original team) plus maybe a million a piece. Basically, if a player like LeBron took a $3-$5 million pay cut on top of not getting a S&T he's looking at a net loss of $40-45 million. I don't see him doing that, even if he does create this "team of destiny". Most likely (if the pay cuts are true) each player signs for roughly $14, which translates to $20 million in money to sign other free agents. Here's the issue, players like an Artest, an Odom, a Battier, a Rondo, are not on the market. The Heat have very little assets to trade, so the only way they can get a player like that is to go to a team that is starving to cut cash and take on some heavy contracts with a role player. That money will not go that far, but I could be wrong.

Where is BimaTHUG in all this madness?
