He has an overpriced salary (similar stats to ariza, almost double the cost) and a trade kicked that makes him very expensive to trade. Maybe I'm missing something though.
Unless you know Daryl Morey personally, which you don't, you say this based on speculation. Answer the following questions if you don't mind, so I can try to understand the logic of how signing Parsons will be beneficial for us. 1. Is Parsons worth 15 Million? 2. How is he different from Ariza, who is getting paid nearly half? 3. Considering the way his contract is structured in an untraceable way, will his contract hinder our ability to attract 2015 free agents?
We're gonna match... but he will regret missing out on free agents from tying up his cap space on this nonsense
I think the reason Lance Stephenson hasn't signed to a team yet is because Cuban said he'll sign him once Dallas is free from the Parsons contract. I think Lance should go to Charlotte and play next to Kemba. Like think about it. That would be easily the best defensive team in the East next season. top 5 in the league. Charlotte should throw a lot of money at them now that they missed out on Hayward. I doubt Jordan wants anything to do with Lance though unfortunately.
I am not saying Parsons puts them over the top - but he is a pretty good consolidation price. With Calderon, Ellis, Parsons, Dirk and Chandler they have a pretty decent starting 5. 4 very good 3pt shooters and offensive powers - 1 very good defender to protect the basket. They won't make the finals, but the Mavs are all about putting a good team next to Dirk. They ain't getting one of the stars, so a player like Chandler makes sense. Deng probably would've made more sense for them, but I wouldn't call this signing stupid. It helps them to secure a playoff spot and allow Dirk to stay in Dallas without having to suffer through to many losses. But I believe they are biting their butts because they handcuffed themselves for 3 days. Vince Carter was important to them, Ariza would've been great for them and there is a very good chance the Rockets match. They could end up with no impact FA whatsoever.
Hell I can answer these 1. No he isnt, but he is probably worth $11-$12 on open market. He is good enough to not lose for nothing over $3-$4 million 2. He is better all around offensively, and has higher upside long term defensively. He is also around 4 years younger. The biggest difference is resigning Parsons makes Ariza the 6th man getting around 30-35 minutes a game playing some backup at the 2, and the 3, this allows parsons to back up at the 4 on small lineups. This takes one of our weaker spots the bench and upgrades it extremely. 3. Im not a salary cap expert but from what I've read from Bima's post is the difference in not matching and matching are so small there really isnt one. If we dont match we will use that space for other players cause thats what DM does. It wont be sitting there free with the off chance a Star come here next season. To add on 2015 is basically just Love, and Rondo because LMA already has stated he intends to sign max with the blazers. Love wont be available. He will get dealt during the season Minnesota wont lose him for nothing. So basically another "star" would have to gotten thru trades. This is where Parsons comes in. Parsons deal is basically a 2 yr deal cause of opt out after 2015-2016 which means after next season his deal is basically an expiring contract and teams that are trying to clear space for 2016 (Durant) would bite at Parsons if that's what Morey wanted to do. Parsons is valuable even on an overpaid deal. In my opinion matching Parsons is an extremely smart move.
Yeah. Just like I suggested, we're not matching. It would have made no sense to match. Please refrain from being arrogant next time. Thanks.
