I think T-Mac is just looking for someone...anyone...to help out as a play-maker. Sura doesnt have to be great. All he has to do is drive and dish a few times to keep defenses honest and get a few easy shots for Tracy.

Jeff, this is a great point. While Barry has some of the skills we need, he did not fit into our system any more than Piatkowski did last year. Right now, this teams biggest deficiency (sp?) is its lack of footspeed at all positions except the two. With Barry on this team, I think everything we are seeing now would still be there. The only way for him to have had enough of an impact to offset his lack of d would be to consistantly knock down the three at a fifty percent clip.

On the other hand, Sura will provide us with the defense and penetration we sorely lack (other than T-Mac), but his ability/inability to knock down shots will be what he is ultimately judged by.

IMO, with the addition of sura's speed/defense in the backcourt, if we could get a four with speed and defense,we could be in business.

The biggest plus about Sura is his size. He can post up smaller guards, and he can see the floor better than Ward and Lue because of his height.

The one thing that has been bad all year long so far at the PG slot has been the post entry pass. Because other PG's guarding Lue and Ward are bigger than they are, they've been settling for bounce passes and rainbow passes to Yao. This has created several turnovers. Just look at how well McGrady can pass to the post because of his size. He can just throw it over everybody.

I think some had the the line up like this :
    yao
    howard
    jj
    tmac
    ward

and I always said it should be like this :
    yao
    mo t
