he looks so comfortable out there. he is very strong as well. he reminds me of ron artest (bodywise) with a way better basketball IQ. I think he should be able to contribute immediately and I hope he gets the chance.

He can contribute right away and he can hit the the three ball. He really has a nice stroke from the outside. He'll contribute more than Landry is rookie season. I don't know if there will be any playoff game winning blocks. But he will contribute more. He has more range I know that.

I loved what I saw today in the SL game, but there was one thing that irked me to no end when watching him play.

His shooting form is quite odd, and while the ball continued to go in, I'm worried that teams will find a way to defend it by simply having someone play relatively close to him at all times.

Landry released his jumpers high and and over his head.

Patterson holds the ball out in front of him and not very high, so I feel as if he's just begging to be blocked or disrupted on his shots.

Does anyone else feel this way?

But as long as he's open, he seems to be money, which I am extremely happy about.

He will be a contributor from the start. He commands attention, because he can shoot, he can post, he can run. I say he will contribute about 11pts a game with about 5 rebounds, because i followed kentucky due to john wall i got to see him play a lot, and he is NBA ready. His body is built for the 4 spot, if you want to compare him to any player right now i would have to say Udonis Haslem and back then Otis Thorpe. Love this guy and great value at 14 Morey knows what he is doing.

then other team's power forward up in Patterson's face way out on the 3 pt line is going to make good things happen elsewhere.

As long as Yao, our walking double team, is on the court, nobody will both with Patterson.

Like many said, 1 SL game does not a starting position (or even 2nd PF off the bench) garner.

However, if he keeps up this offensive pace, and shows decent defense, he could even start over Scola, IMO.

One day he could be a solid a 18 points a game player. The skill set to post up, shoot threes, break away dunks, power dunks, and alley oops on the cuts or great hands means he should be a bigtime scorer if he is consistant on every night. I really think w hit the mother load with Patterson. I really do before hos first Summer League game even confirmed my stats analysis and game analysis of this kid. He could be special. If he continues to work hard.

He shoots a bit like Marion and Marion didn't really take too many contested threes. If he shoots the three within the system, his low and slow release shouldn't be a problem. Besides, if the defense plays him close on the perimeter, that means that there are now 2 less bodies in the paint when AB burns opposing guards or when Ariza/JT/CBud cuts to the rim.

Patterson should really help out Yao. He is strong, spaces the floor well, and a great offensive rebounder. This should relieve a lot of pressure on Yao.

If you want a good example of what Patterson can be like, look at Lamar Odom. Those 2 players are very similar. Both are long, can play SF/PF, can stretch out the defense by shooting 3's, have a nice inside game. To me, thats the best comparison, not Carl Landry.

I can't see the comparison TBH. Lamar Odom is a much better shooter and ball handler, but dumb as a doorknob. Patterson reminds me more of Jamison.

I think if you crossed Odoms shooting with Landrys game you what we have in Patterson.

Patterson is a blue collar version of Antawn Jamison with less rebounds. I see him improving his rebounding numbers tho with that type of hustle he possesses.

Thought I'd check CF and see if there were any knee-jerk threads: and here it is!
He certainly played beyond my expectations for his first game. Shot inside, outside and post-up. Big body. Appeared very confident, and smooth.
I much prefer the knee-jerk threads after a good game than a bad one (wasted draft choice, what was DM thinking, send down to the Dleague or try to trade for a 2nd round draft choice) :)

Yeah I like the kid too and he probably could eventually start over Scola but probably won't. I think the way they had the rotation with Scola sliding over to the 5 and Landry taking his spot worked perfect. Landry still got starter minutes and many times finished the game but Scola remained the starter.

Of course that's assuming PP is the real deal. The only exception is if we get a solid backup for Yao and then that lives limited minutes at the 4 and you need to eventually start the best guy. Anyway that's the way I see it. PP really surprised me the first game. he is better than all the film I watched on him. I had no idea he could shoot so well. I know he won't shoot this good forever but he doesn't have to. He is already a better defender and shotblocker than landry and he knows his role and plays it to perfection. I just gave Morey's scouting staff a bump up in my book. P.S. they were already pretty high.

Nope, lamar odom has so much talent but plays like a boy. Patrick is a man. He is closer to Artest than Odom. I could see PP in the finals guarding King James and annoying the hell out him.

Nah. Aldridge plays like sheed. Lengthy and high release jumper. P-patt is a more like a jamison with much more hustle.
