Nope, I understand science, I'm just 'blinded by the light' errr... I mean I was dancing in the moonlight... we get in on most every night and when that moon is big and bright its a supernatural delight everybodys dancing in the moonlight dancing in the moonlight everybodys feeling warm and bright its such a fine and natural sight everybodys dancing in the moonlight
I hate starting new threads. So I'll resurrect* this one. Great read from Brian Boyko about his recent visit to the Texas State Board of Education. *No pun intended. Well, maybe.
I am definitely not on the intellectual level of you people. But my answer to this question would be that God will not die no matter what is said by the masses.
That's fine. No one have a problem with teaching ID as long as they do not call it a "SCIENCE" subject. call it theology or philosophy and everyone would be happy. No one can prove or disprove the existence of God currently.
Check out Rah, Posiedon, Zeus, Thor, etc and all the other gods before this Abrahamic god. They are now all dead. People were just as passionate about the truth about those gods in the past but they have now been downgraded from relgion status to a plain ol myth. The same will happen with all these modern gods. With regards to the topic in hand.. the biggest difference between ID and Evolution is the methodology in seeking the truth: Evolution - gathered evidence and let the evidence lead them to the conclusion ID - formed a conclusion then gather evidence to support that conclusion. The former is how SCIENCE develops theories while the latter is how myths are created.
As part of cultural studies, none of the claims have been proven but studying various religious traditions can give one insight to how one's ancestors lived and saw their world. It is fascinating.
At Sunday School, lock-ins and in place of faith healing and every non-biblical fellowship activity. And on every religious radio and television network program.
This is why America falls behind the world in education ... We're more concerned about teaching kids how monkeys became humans, than how the human body works, and how to treat diseases.
You do understand that we are able to combat most viruses because of our knowledge and understanding of evolution right?
A student can learn how living cells and DNA strands work, without anyone preaching to them where first cell came from and who made it. Just like a mechanic can fix a car without studying history books about Henry Ford.
Your analogy and your understanding of what evolution teaches (not preaches) is way off. First, the science of evolution has nothing to do with the origins of life - that is abiogenesis. Second, if we asked the students to learn about Charles Darwin, your analogy might have held water.
At first I was like when the f--- did I make this post? Somebody hacked my CF account. Then I read the date of the OP and was like ohhh...... I was 21 and just out of college when I made that post. It's so weird reading it now, but I still think it's a question. Of course A LOT has happened since then and Intelligent Design (and to some extent Abortion) no longer dominates the headlines. Now it's all about government budget, health care and stuff that actually matters.
