I asked a Bobcats fan on the RealGM.com bbs their scouting report on Eddie House. This is what they said... ### good off the ball scorer...mostly a catch and shoot guy. not as good off the dribble. quick release 3pt range but more of a 20 foot shooter. starts quick the streakiest shooter i have ever seen which can be good and bad. will get many steals in the iverson mode...passing lanes...not so much on the ball he is not a point guard...not even close but if paired with a big guard that can play point like sura or mcgrady then he would be fine. not a great one on one defender but not as bad as you might think. as far as i know he is good off the court married to mike bibby's sister... i think. ### Kinda sounds like a poor man's Troy Hudson to me.
If we were going to go after a smallish SG, I'd like to see the Rocks trade Lue (expiring contract) for Cleveland's DaJuan Wagner (not extended and an odd man out). Wagner has been plagued by injuries but looks ready to live up to his reputation as a scorer. He has the pedigree (the second of the dreaded "p" words) so we might luck out like the Wolves did with Eddie Griffin.
I'd rather not. Wagner is more of a slasher/penetrator guy. I think it's much more important to get perimeter, catch-and-shoot players. If that Bobcats fan's scouting report is accurate, then I think House will be a great fit for this team.
If your premise were correct, then why not go after 6-5 Courtney Alexander? Alexander is both a shooter and a slasher.
Last I checked Alexander was injured. House is healthy, available right now, will come cheap, and has been performing well so far this year. To be honest I haven't see a whole lot of Alexander, but I've seen enough of House to know that he can at least put the ball in the basket. Which is something this team definitely could use.
In due time. m_cable: Will House be at home with JVG? If he can play JVG level defense, we may be a window of opportunity but with a limited ceiling. More realistically, Denver is holding the door too wide open for him. At any rate, I'd be floored if we could get a player with ability on the cheap. Our new chant would be "No bricks from House."
from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Randy Pfund said the Heat took a cursory look at possibly bringing back guard Eddie House after he was released this week by Charlotte. "We don't have a roster spot, so it's kind of a non-issue right now," Pfund said. "You're talking to the guy who's drafted him. Eddie's always been intriguing."
http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~90~2585390,00.html House out of mix at guard By Adam Thompson and Marc J. Spears Denver Post Staff Writers Washington - The Nuggets have turned their attention away from Eddie House and toward two veterans in their search for a third point guard. The Nuggets decided Tuesday that House, a free agent waived Saturday by the Charlotte Bobcats, would not be a good fit for the organization. Agent Mark Bartelstein said House had concerns about his playing time and that Golden State, Miami, Houston and Milwaukee remain interested. "Eddie wanted to step in and play," Bartelstein said. Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said the search has turned toward two former Nuggets - Anthony Goldwire and Doug Overton, though the team may stand pat. "Both are good alternatives," Vandeweghe said. The Milwaukee Bucks recently waived Goldwire, who worked out voluntarily in Denver with the players and coaches during the offseason. "I just want to be in the running," Goldwire said. "I'm cool with whatever decision. But I'm familiar with the city. I would love to be there. It's up to Kiki and Jeff. I like to go up and down. I think I fit their running system." If Denver signs another point guard, rookie forward Arthur Johnson would be the leading candidate to be waived to create a roster spot, while center Mark Pope and swingman DerMarr Johnson also are possibilities.
House would be a nice addition to our bench, but the Rockets need to be looking for something BIG to change.
I was wrong. Denver closed the door on House. Maybe we will give him a home. Although he's never been a Knick, JVG doesn't seem to mind fixer-uppers. JJ is a good example of that.
