He's a 6 foot nothing 2-guard, what do you expect? I like House as an end of the bench pick up, but his skill set is very similar to Andre Barrett's without the passing skills. And you certainly couldn't play them together with their size (lack thereof).
from http://thesundevils.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/house_eddie00.html Finished his four-year Arizona State career as the school’s leading scorer with 2,044 points (11th on Pac-10 career list) and also the school’s all-time steals leader with 258 (third on Pac-10 career list). Just the second player in Pac-10 history to notch 2,000 points and 250 steals (Gary Payton is the other). Did not miss a game in 124-game career. His toughness was never in doubt, as in his junior year he broke his jaw in practice on October 22, 1998, and had it wired for the first six games. Living on a diet of milkshakes and soup he averaged 19.3 points, including a 31-point effort vs. Kansas State when he played all 45 minutes of an overtime game. Had 39 points vs. UNLV in the first game back from having the wiring removed. In his freshman season (1996-97), he suffered chipped teeth and had to get three root canals following a 2 p.m. game in the Great Alaska Shootout, but he had seven three-pointers the next day vs. Maine in a noon tip-off. One of the best-known players in the nation his senior year, led by his Pac-10 record matching 61-point outburst at California on Jan. 8 in a 111-108 double-overtime win. The first Pac-10 player to notch four 40-point games in one season as he had 46 vs. San Diego State, 42 vs. Penn State and 40 vs. UCLA. Posted eight 30-point games and set ASU records in points (736) and points per game (23.0). Also led the team in assists (111) and steals (74), as the 74 steals is tied for second on ASU single-season list. Tenth in Pac-10 in assists per game (3.47), second in steals (2.31) and sixth in free-throw percentage (.835). Outscored 55 Division I teams on Jan. 8 with his 61 points, and it marked just the sixth time since 1978 that a player had more than 60 points in a game involving two Division I teams. The 61 points matched Lew Alcindor’s mark set in 1967. Was the only senior on a team with six true freshmen and led ASU to just its fourth 19-win season in the past 17 years, including a 10-8 mark in the Pac-10 that was tied with NCAA Sweet Sixteen participant UCLA for fourth place. Also became the first player to earn Pac-10 Player of the Week three straight weeks in one season and became just the fourth player to earn the award four times in a season. Ended the season as the nation’s fourth-leading scorer at 23.0 ppg.
Why did the Bobcats cut House? Is Kareem Rush that much of an upgrade? Our guards must really suck if we're excited about picking up a guard cut from one of the worst teams in the league.
you never know... some players release their hidden talents when they get a change of location (eddie griffin)
Rush isn't really a huge upgrade IMO, but he's got better upside and has the size to be a long-term starter. House did/does not. But we're not looking for House to be a long-term starter for us, we're looking for a better third guard off the bench.
You can't shop Lue around - he's out on IL with torn cartilage in his knee. Who in the right mind (besides Dawson) would trade a 2 for an injured player? From where I sit, the odd man (men) out is either Ward or Gaines or both. Barrett has taken Gaines' spot on this team. If Gaines was any good at all playing the point, he would have been Ward's replacement when he went down. The fact that a rookie PG leap frogged Gaines is a bad sign. Ward's limitations are obvious and with Sura back, he's no longer needed to run the point. As for House, I think he'll wind up at Denver. I doubt that CD even knows he's available.
Cant JVG take him off the injured list just as easy? Last time i read an artical that said he has somthing wrong with his leg? BUT was willing to play through it for the rest of the season. Which means he has the same injury as Boki... lol. Anyways if u read Docs post you will see that we are the front runners why do u think every1s so jumppy about him right now?
we have got too many mediocre players, especially at 1 and 4. I would really want to have a couple of players that are NBA starter quality, if possible. Right now, it seems difficult.
I'd cut Ward or Lue. I don't want to cut Andre Barrett..he's been doing good. I wouldn't cut Bowen either.
http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/110231369882370.xml The Nets have no interest in Eddie House, who had been shopped for two weeks before the expansion Bobcats cut him Saturday night. House is a streak shooter, but he has problems with defense, shot selection, and isn't a willing passer.
Well if anything big is going to happen pertaining to Doc's post, I hope it involves a PF that can rebound and has a respectable shot. I'm tired of the clones (Taylor and Howard). They're so alike they even struggle in the same games. And when they are hot they both are hot. If only Weatherspoon was 5 inches taller, he'd be a perennial all-star. But Ward and Lue have not impressed me at all. Barett has made the most of his playing time. And Sura was everything as good as he was advertised.
I asked Lue how his knee was, at the Rox holiday party last Sunday. He told me that he is ready to get back.
