Dude, There's actually very little that we agree on, but I think you're on point with this one. Rubio is going to struggle BIG-TIME in the NBA.
Ricky Rubio's Final Season Stats 2010-11: Euroleague: 22.7 Minutes Per Game 31.0 Field Goal% 22.4 3 Point Field Goal% 83.6 Free Throw% 6.5 Points Per Game 3.3 Rebounds Per Game 3.5 Assists Per Game 1.6 Steals Per Game 1.8 Turnovers Per Game Spanish League: 21.8 Minutes Per Game 32.0 Field Goal% 25.9 3 Point Field Goal% 77.1 Free Throw% 4.8 Points Per Game 3.2 Rebounds Per Game 4.1 Assists Per Game 1.6 Steals Per Game 1.9 Turnovers Per Game He did not shoot 88% from the free throw line.
Rubio's game is more suited to the NBA where he can pass the ball to people that can run and jump at the same time, and by proxy...finish above the rim. He will be better in the NBA than he ever was over there in back hair barn ball. DD
Fran Vazquez and Boni N'Dong are more athletic finishers than any player on the Wolves. They were Rubio's teammates on Barca. You might want to actually watch Rubio play a game, before you keep up making all these claims about him.
Sure it does. A good FT percentage shows he has at least a decent stroke and obviously Rubio isn't gonna be a shot-creator in the NBA and have to be shooting heavily contested jumpers, but he at least needs to be able to hit open jumpshots. The distance can come with practice, but it is an area he will have to develop if he wants to be successful here because I don't see him being able to penetrate as well as, say, Rondo (a successful PG without a jumpshot, kind of an anomaly).
if your only skill is passing in transition, but lacks the quicks to put pressure on the D, you will not succeed as a full time player in the NBA.
DD, I know you like the kid, but be careful, you are throwing some big names out there (JKidd/Mark Jackson).
Rubio is going to be a good player in the NBA, the kid is 20 years old, and tons of basketball people rave about him. The ones that criticize for the most part are lacking in credibility. DD
Still, if you compare him to hall of famers, he'll never live up to the hype. I feel like the people who like him and hate him, both, use language that is hyperbolic. I like the kid, and I hope he succeeds, but I wouldn't go comparing him to all time greats. He has a lot of work to do on his jumper, and he'll have a tough time getting used to the athleticism of opposing point guards, but with his handle/bball IQ/length, he has traits which could allow him to be successful.
Rajon Rondo shoots smt like 50% from FT Line and he's an all-star because he can find his teammates in the right spots, he's an active defender and he's excellent in transition. Ricky Rubio is excellent in transition, he's great in finding his teammates in the right spots, he's an active defender (and he'll progress in that direction).... The only thing that could stop him from being a star is a coaching model. If Minny would change their game to the level, when every player would know where he should go here and there, to an excellent half-court team with great decision-making that will depend of Rubio's ability to running the show, they would be a playoff team and Rubio would develop really quickly He's excellent in pick-n-pop and Love is deadly on that play. Don't forget about statistical cheating in that category. He would surprise you a lot in this new season if Kahn would fire this horrible horrible Rambis
