Not very replaceable. He's a defensive anchor, and even though right now he may not be 100%, he's still better than a lot of the centers in the game today. Come playoff time, he is a different animal.
That's what we're all waiting for. To see how he plays come playoff time. I hate the idea that he's coasting til then, but I guess I prefer that to the possibility that he's injured or "bone on bone". I'm inclined to think he's coasting. He seems to be able to turn it on when he has to. Case in point, the OT period in Memphis and the 4th quarter at Cleveland.
Agreed. I feel the same way also. This is all speculation but he seems to turns it on and off when he feels like it. It's like he knows we'll make the playoffs and is waiting until then to "turn it on". I hate thinking that's what he's doing but we still can't trade him.
What in the HELL? Dwight is NOT replaceable! Dwight is the anchor of our defense. Even though D-mo is doing well defensively, we have NO INSIDE PRESENCE without Dwight! Mainly because D-mo doesn't know how to jump. James Harden had to do so much more on offense when Dwight is out, because teams are able to score much easier with him out of the line up. Ariza, James, and Brewer can't play the lanes so much if Dwight wasn't there to back them up. D-Mo will have to go to the post against the opposing team's center. However, I would like to see D-Mo get more Offensive touches than Dwight. He is clearly the Lithunian Dream... (thought he'll never be as good as dream bc D-mo can't jump)
If you think about it, the Rockets going 8-3 in those games he missed with the knee injury was both a blessing and a curse. It was a big confidence booster for the rest of the guys to know that they could win without him. But it also probably gave Dwight a false sense of security that the team didn't need him giving it his all out there to secure a win.
Problem is is is injured so his sick is low his explosives is what make him great...now he looks average
You don't sign him period - you can't have a guy that can't stay healthy on a contract that will hamper the team - after Yao Ming - there is no way - if Dwight is on the way down, and his knees are never going to be healthy again, you let him play the next two seasons and thank him for his service. DD
the thing that disappoints me most about dwight is that he's not really a go-to-guy on offense. if you're spending $20M+ on a guy you want to be able to give him the ball and get out of the way once in a while. i'd give him through next season to get himself back to full health or learn from mchale/hakeem how to adapt his game to be more finesse and less reliant on athleticism. if he doesn't, i'd start looking for other options while we can still get a kings ransom for him. i prefer dmo is the post (on offense) anyway.
This was Dwight on the KG and the fight. What's interesting is his implication that he's holding back during the season and plans to let lose in the playoffs. If he can turn it off and on like that I'm fine. I just hope it's not injuries that keep him limited but maybe just himself keeping the wear and tear in his body low during the season.
Absolutely not replaceable. I'm also going to argue that we need to extend him at least one year at the max to repay what he did to come here to begin with. For the real fans, he's our guy.
