Why when something doesn't seem to go the way the public wants, some people blame it on Stern? Isn't he voted by the owners to run the league? So in reality, the owners are the ones with powers. Like when a game seems to go wrong, it's Stern's fault. A team that gets moved, it's Stern's fault. Wtf? He's doesn't own the teams.
Didn't he screw up the season with the lockout? Didn't he void a trade that could've changed our franchise?
He gets blames for the same reasons the head of major companies get blamed. He is the top dog for the most part, and he will receive blame whether it is justified or not. But in all honesty, the guy just looks like a dick
there have been governments that claim to be democratic when they are everything but that. Commissar Stern owns you! owns me.
Ummm...no. The lockout was between the players and owners. They couldn't settle their disagreements so there had to be a lockout. What could Stern have done if players didn't want to play and owners didn't want to pay?
But how surely if the majority of owners didn't want him to do certain things, could he have done them? So really it's the majority of owners who should be the blame for things that he was allowed to do.
Theoretically the owners could vote to fire him. But in reality, they are too scared of him and too dependent on him. Make no mistake, David Stern is the evil emperor ruling with an iron fist.
Gasol would have lost us the valuable 14th pick and given us a first round exit. So what. Stern did what he did for basketball reasons, which is the equivalent of when parents say "because I said so." In reality... maybe we should thank the man. Gasol is a playoff bust now and on the down end of his career.
Maybe so but it is the new official excuse for the Houston Rockets. After all, the "Yao Ming broke down" excuse is getting a bit long in the tooth.
Powerful enough to uproot a team 2 years before it's lease is due and probably skimp them on 30 million of the settlement. I know it's for effect of the movie, but the snippets of the Stern interviews/pressers in Sonicsgate paint him, with very little effort I assume, as Palpatine reborn.
