If he wont sign an extension nothing. Keep the assets for a player thatis under contract and will stay here.

There is no particular player I'd protect from a trade for Anthony. But, if we're going to trade for him, we need to have enough of a team left to genuinely contend -- and for Anthony to be willing to extend his contract -- or there'd be no point in getting him.

    For a rental?

    NOTHING.

    For a signed Melo?

Brooks, Jeffries, Battier, Hill, Patterson, Picks (a combination of them but not all of them.

    No Yao, Martin or Budinger.

anyone except brooks, martin or yao.

if we trade battier we still have bud, and if we trade bud we still have battier.

trading for brooks martin or yao will all leave us with gaps in our roster... unless we get some other players in the trade to fill for those.

I would not deal Yao or Brooks and I doubt they would want Scola, so I will include him as well.

I would offer both NYK first rounders, Kevin Martin, and any combo of young players they want (Bud, Hill, Lee, etc) but no more than 2 of them.

You don't make this trade because he wont stay in Houston, and adding him wont get you a championship in the upcoming season.

If Melo is willing to accept a trade to Houston, then I say go for it. I actually disagree with those who think one-year rentals don't work out.

Ron Artest was a one-year rental, and the Rockets don't make it out of the first round of that year without him. We gave up basically nothing for him, but at the time it looked like alot with a first-round pick, donte green, and I forget what else.

Artest would have re-signed with the Rockets, but chose the Lakers since he wanted a Ring. Now, if Melo comes here, and the Rockets win a title, don't you think he'll want to re-sign or get an extension with the Rockets?

Championship contenders are made by making key free agent signings and one or two "The Trade" deals then making team chemistry and molding. The Rockets have nothing to lose, as far as winning or losing reputation, since no one expects them to even make the play-offs, let alone get out of the first round.

What I would give up would be

Chase Budinger, Courtney Lee, New York's 2012 Draft Pick, Our 2011 first round draft pick, and Patrick Patterson, for Melo.

I vote No, nothing, thx & bye. Carmelo won't fit with the Rox so I don't even want to trade for him.

There should've been such an option for any polls FYI......

You've only seen his Rookie season. Players usually break out in their 3rd year, like AB and Carl. Give the guy 2 more years then judge him.

    This.

Without an extension, nothing at all.

Personally, I don't like the way he runs backwards...

posted this in another thread but i think it's more appropriate in this one

    Houston receives

melo and JR smith as our 6 man with lowry to set him up for 3 on his dribble drives

    nuggets receive

battier, lee or martin (lee can start if martin is traded), patterson or hill, first round pick

    what do you guys think?

I'd rather keep the players we have. I'm just not a big Melo fan.

Please please please dont have a Brooks, Martin, Melo lineup. The worst defensive ever. I might actually hate the team considering they might give up 110+ a night.

I think Adelman will never want JR Smith on this team. He is a freakin nutjob on and off the court and will take worst shots than Ariza did.
