I dont know. A lot of teams have been freeing up cap space for the FA this year. While not for Luis I am quite sure the teams who dont get thier targets will have plenty of money to spend and Luis would make a good second option.

    LS - 7.5 X 4 (w/raises annually)
    KL - 4.5 X 5 (w/raises annually)

    And worth it, both of'm.

Actually I think the middle of the pack guys will get squeezed out given the state of most NBA teams right now. The owners have a lot of leverage in this salary cap situation and I don't think they want to overpay for non-star players...

    This.

    I'll say,

    Scola, 4 years, $32,000,000
    Lowry 5 years, $22,000,000

Agreed. That sounds like fair market value.

I don't think Scola is restricted but I am hoping his agent gives the Rockets the chance to match any offer (like Nash's agent did before Donnie Nelson felt giving that money to Eric Dampier would be a better investment).

Scola is a restricted free agent. All players with three years or less of NBA experience are restricted free agents. It doesn't matter that Scola will be 30 or that he was a star in Europe before coming over.

I know you are really knowledgeable (moreso than me), but I do have to question.

I thought 2nd rounders did not get the qualifying offers? http://hoopshype.com/salaries/houston.htm
Hoopshype has him as an unrestricted FA.

If Scola was 26 years old - Easily 9-10 million

Due to his age, Morey can leverage and probably sign him to 7 million a year for four years with the final year being a player option. Scola will probably show noticable decline by his fourth year and will definitely pick up the option.

I honestly don't see a team in the NBA that would start Lowry. He'll get around 3 million long-term or take the qualifying offer. Scola will get around MLE money.

    Hoopshype is wrong.

All restricted free agents get qualifying offers, first rounders and second rounders alike. The qualifying offer is what makes them restricted.

You're welcome. And stop reading Hoopshype. Just read Larry Coon's FAQ. His stuff is the gospel.

If scola is offered around 10-11 million the best option is a sign and trade for bosh or Stoudemire

If he is offered that much, he would sign the offer sheet immediately and we probably would not match and lose him for nothing.

I can't see Scola getting less than 32mill over 4 or Lowry less than 10 over 3yrs.
