Is anyone here saying Chase is a well rounded player? I'm sure not. The rockets have 2 two way players in Lowry and Lee. Parsons might be a third, but it's too soon to draw any conclusion on him.

All I'm saying is be fair when you judge players. You can't say a bench player had a bad game when he shoots almost 50% from the floor, and gives you 18 points in the process. Especially when you will rip him for games where he shoots a terrible percentage or gives you no offense.

I only saw parts of the game (I have it recorded though :D ) but when I was watching Bud was not guarding Batum, he was guarding Mathews. Did that change at some point?

I think being fair is the right word. He is not an impact player.... a difference maker.... so I gave him props for his scoring, but IMO a role player should do more than scoring. He played darn 40 minutes! 1 assist.
    Enough said.

If a role player did more than score, then he would be considered a well rounded player and one of the best players in the league.

For example, judging Budinger on his assists makes no sense as he's not being asked to facilitate the offense when he's in the game.

But do you want your role player to take 16 shots while your second best or third best player Scola in the post takes 7?

I am not really judging him or else I would say what I think his game is worth. I don't do that.

I am observing the game and his impact on the game. He is parking outside of the three point line a lot, driving only if there is no other choice. Chucking a lot, 2 out of 7 threes. No real emotions, no real passion.

Bud can get tot he rim but the chooses not to. He has a decent passing game too but he chooses not to assert himself into using those skills in executing proper sets. He chooses to just wait around 3 pt line then catch and shoot. He has the skills but he doesnt have the motor needed to become more than a Kapono or James Jones type player.

On most nights, of course not. But it depends on if he's forcing those shots or getting them in the flow of the offense. Scola didn't have it going tonight. He had 5 turnovers to go along with 7 shots. That means he had 12 possessions involving him and 40% of the time it ended up in a turnover. He also got in foul trouble. Just wasn't a Scola night.

agreed with the Scola part. Bud not using his midrange game...... his passing to players other than Scola is limiting himself to his 3 point shot which was not money tonight.

I saw more bricks than what went in.

Batum looked awesome! Bud played like a guy that only takes a shot when they run a play for him. On a similar note I saw Novak knock down a couple shots today too. Bud isn't the guy for us. At least not a starting 3.

I would add Dalembert to that list.

I think my biggest thing with Budinger is that he's a designated shooter who doesn't shoot all too well. He doesn't play aggressively or without much passion. It's like he's just there. Heck, even Jordan Hill hustles and tries. Budinger seems content shooting - and missing - jumpers.

You guys do realize that when McHale dropped him to 2nd team it was to make him one of the primary scorers, but the very next game he put Kmart in there with him, making CBud another tertiary option.

I like the Parsons and CBud combo...it is good for 16 and 10 every night.

I find it kind of telling that only in his first season Parsons has outplayed Budinger up to this point. If Parsons stays the course or gets better? He will be the better defender, rebounder, passer, more athletic, taller player, who can score about as much as Budinger. To me that sounds like why I can see Coach Mc Hale up to this point has made a great decision to start him now.

Of course Budinger still earns his keep as the deep ball specialist and scorer off the bench.

I doubt any of Chases supporters would argue with that, including me.

Parsons has been like a better Battier, a super role player, who is active all the time.

He has earned the starting spot, no doubt.

    You know whats funny?

DD had NO clue about CBud when he came out and made some stereotyping assumptions about him , when close followers like me and some others said he was athletic and a good shooter.

Ironic, because I said that people would be surprised by how effective he can be....in the right system (aka with Adelman's motion offense) and circumstances (a good/great PG that can find him in the full court and spotting up), and that he can be a solid starter.

Turns out, he was, for a while. Then of course, as everyone knows now, DD jumped on the bandwagon and in the process jinxed him like every player he has strongly rooted for.

Now he is being out-played and out-hustled by a rookie and ....of course....DD is latching on to the new vanilla flavor of the month.

Sigh....please DD.....don't jinx this guy too!!!
