The thing about Parsons is that he is actually contributing even when he isn't making shots. In fact, he isn't really making shots right now. His defense is light years ahead of Bud's as well as his rebounding. He also seems to understand that if his shot isn't falling then he needs to figure out how to get to the basket. If he can manage to shoot the same mediocre 3pt% that Bud does then I can't see anyway that you can argue Bud being a better player.

You're right dude, you should be a GM of a basketball team. You know everything. First, we were talking about the productivity of Bud given the limited minutes he's been given, which he's been doing good. Now, you're comparing him to Landy and Millsaps?

Come one man, you're just trying you're best to make Bud look bad now. Bud is in a new system under McHale. Yes, Bud is not Landry, Millsaps or Parsons. He is what he is, someone who comes of the bench and plays well for the minutes he's been given. If Morey thought so lowly of him, he would have done something with him already. Bud is in a new system and he will be fine.
Next, you'll start comparing him to Anderson Varejao and Marc Gasol who are also 2nd rounders.

Having both Bud and Martin at SG, would give each and every SG in the league a field day every time they play against us.

To me, Budinger just doesn't fit in at SG on this team. Martin, Lee would be ahead of him in the rotation. And if Dragic is running the point, I think you need to have another ball-handling 2-guard next to him because he's not a pure point.

That is fine, we need to clear the roster of some of our players, but I think Bud might not be gone, he is a really decent performer for very little money, and Morey likes those guys.

    Lee is out with injury.

The reason I want to see him at SG is I want to see if this team will even miss Martin when/if he is traded if we still have CBud. CBud's game more resembles Martin than any other player we have. Except CBud is way more athletic and can finish much better at the rim. I'd like to see him have a shot at playing 2 alongside a point guard and a bigger SF that actually defends and hustles.

This is a lottery team. So, what we should be doing is trying to maximize guys trade value. We know what Martin is. And right now, CBud's trade value is plummeting. Put him in at the 2 and see if he rocks a couple 20 point games on effective shooting and finishing. He's bigger, stronger, and more athletic than Martin. It may show more by him playing the 2. Look at Kawhi for an example of what I'm talking about, except that CBud actually can shoot it from distance.

Bud appears lost with McHale. Always seemed to have confidence and "motor" problems, but is still very talented. Probably will become trade bait. Maybe Adelman in Minny will want him.

He is lost. So is Martin.

And the reason is very simple. Chuck is not around to play the high post on offense. This is affecting both Chase and Martin drastically on offense. They had it rolling at the end of the year with Chuck running the high post. That's over. Hence, their bleak offensive performances. And defensively their weaknesses are more glaring without Chuck to take all those charges off all the blowbys. Yeah, Dally's in there...sometimes. And sometimes he is a deterrant. And sometimes he's not. There's a significant dropoff in our paint defense this season, even with Dally.

The Rockets have a team option for Bud's next season at 900k. For the level of talent and proven ability at that cost. Bud can suck for the entire year and he'd still be worth keeping.

Bud looked lost much of last year under Adelman too

Truth is he failed to develop last year and that has contimued this year.

He has been decent for stretches but then disappears

Parsons is much much better in terms of defense, rebounding, and feel for the game.

We need to trade Bud this season because who wants an expiring contract of 900k? His best value is that he's cheap for more than one year right now.

No, they don't need to trade Bud. It's ridiculous how people want to trade every player who isn't a superstar. For a contract that size the Rockets will never get value back.

He's worth a contract extension/renewal at the right price.

Or he can go play in Adelman's system. Coach will be high on him. Maybe we can get a pick from them. I think experience aside bud and parsons are interchangeable. Bud is more athletic and gifted, Chandler hustles and gets the most out of his though.
