You had it right the first time. He's a combo 1-2. He's probably the 2nd best point guard on this roster. When Lowry is off the floor, we are much better with Lee at the top and Dragic off the ball then with Dragic at the top. Lee is a better point than Dragic.

Who wouldn't be given his situation, he went from a starter to out of the rotation in the matter of weeks.

In addition we often forget that his only 23yrs old (same age as Parsons) and lack of playing time(or no playing time) can be hard for young players to deal with.

remember how mchale said that playing time is won in practice?
bud, twil, and thabeet must be sucking it up in practice.

yeah, but he was gifted the starter position due to our trades last year. Clearly, the SF starter was up for grabs this year.

And to answer the OP question...when Morris comes back.

They have very little practice time - but I have no issue with McHale picking his guys....

System change, and Bud doesn't fit in as well with this one.

No, did you not read Scola's quotes about Parsons. Why look at the negative. The positive is Parson was beasting it in practice. Bud has become the reserve; not like that means his is sucking in practice. But yeah, I agree that Thabeet must be sucking in practice.

I think he is a third stringer. They use primarily a 3 man rotation in martin lee and parsons.

I could understand your complaint if Bud was playing like crap as a starter, but this didn’t happen. He played pretty good as a starter under RA, and there’s no evidence to believe a guy who’s even undersized at the 2 can handle starting 3’s night in and night out. Bud’s defense is not good at all, but his size at the position still gives him the advantage defensively. McHale is using Lee as the backup 2/3 like Adelman did once Shane was traded.

Before you say your line that anyone who says anything in favor of RA thinks he’s perfect, I can assure you that I don’t. I just see this as a major case of nitpicking. I’m glad Adelman used rotations that worked back then, and I’m glad McHale is figuring out rotations that are working for his system too.

With Bud playing in a funk, you have to wonder if any of the '09 draft class will be back on the team? Hell, how many will still be in the league in a couple of years? Thabeet can probably find a minimuim contract because he's tall, and Bud might be able to stay in the league a little longer, but in three or four years- will these guys still be in the league?

Bud played well for like 20 games last year. That doesn't mean anything considering how he plays the rest of the time. Remember when Flip Murray averaged 30 points for the first 20 games with the Sonics one season. Remember when Mike James had god like numbers in one season with the Raptors. The problem with Bud is that he isn't contributing unless his shot is falling. So when he's not feeling it, he's worth bringing off the bench as a scorer. When he's not, his butt needs to be glued to the pine.

Bud is a pretty good rebounder, a pretty good defender, and a pretty good passer, and a pretty good shooter.

He is not GREAT at anything and is currently the backup SF.

The overeaction by some folks here is laughable, McHale is playing matchups, if CLee can guard them because they are going small, he plays, if they go bigger, Bud plays.

Nothing to see here, but this is Clutchfans, where arguments and drama prevail.

Bud would be a good rotational player with a good, playoff caliber team...Unfortunately he's playing with rotational players that are overachieving...no place for him currently...Give it a couple games, he'll be back out there playin 20+minutes....Because we'll be back down to earth

I know. I don't think Bud is good, just that playing him as the SF over Lee worked under RA. Parsons is the better player and I was advocating for him to take over Bud's job before it even happened. I like the rotation KMac seems to be settling on.

So why is it that folks can compare Bud playing well for 20 games to Flip Murray but not figure out that Parsons has only played about 15 games?

It is just funny.....I hope Parsons keeps it up, but he might be a flash in the pan as well, as soon as teams figure out how he plays.

Bud is on a very cheap contract, and has great production for that contract, if he is traded, it will be because someone wants him, otherwise, I suspect he stays in Houston because he is a Morey type of player, low pay, high production to pay ratio.

FIFY. Not even trying to be humorous here.

One factor that is overlooked (which Morey has come right out and admitted to) is that we have Parsons under our control for another two years but Budinger only two. For a second round, mostly replaceable player like that, these factors become more important.
