I've always wondered, what part of Austin do you live in Dakota? I live right off of Monterey Oaks Blvd and Mopac.

Moose, I'm right next door, in Roscoe Village; though I tend to get drunk more in Lakeview.

I should also note that my place was flooded twice during August and I lost everything I've ever written. It didn't make up for the fact that I didn't have to turn on the AC in this place all summer.

Well you all seem to be living large over there in texas. I mean those prices are pretty low. and MC mark and 110th street are on rent controll or something. a parking spot in queens is good.

anyhoo. I live in the sunny hamptons.

specificaly shelter island(a little Island sitting between the north(wine country) and south(hamptons) forks of long island. My gas prices were 2.09 for regular up untill last week. now I pay 1.89 for regular.

I rent a little house with my brother. my share is $800. really, a good deal. so total rent for a 1.5 bedroom 1 bath acessory dwelling is $1600. acessory dwelling means we are the little house behind our land lords house. well water is free, and other than that you can imagine our heating oil is high like the gas. also have the highest electricity prices in the country. WooHoo!! But it is the most beutifull place in the world, has the most amazing looking women(summer only) and well who else here can say they live on an island??

I should go homeless for a year here, and buy land in the south west. that would be a nice place to retire to.

    Peace

VOR that's a pretty sweet deal yourself. Do you work in the city and commute?

    Shelter Island is beautiful!

Summer must be a b**** though.

And no, my place isn't rent controlled. It’s a private house owned by a Greek couple that have lived in the States for over 30 years (and still can barely speak a word of English, go figure). But I think it’s an illegal rental because it’s supposedly a "one family dwelling" and we pay rent by cash (they won't except a check). I think they are not reporting it and screwing the IRS.

It actually burns me up sometimes. They are taking advantage of the system. If you know what I mean.

But when we moved in three years ago we paid $1100. And when we renewed last year they raised the rent $200. That's a pretty large increase. But what can you do? It’s still a deal. For the same space in Manhattan we be paying around $3500.

Rent in New York is crazy!

    HEHE, summer is awsome.

there is no place on earth.. and you can name any. that I would rather spend the summer than Shelter Island.

I commute to East hampton for work. There is actually lots of money to be made out here. and besides its like 2.5 hours to the city from here, and I dont wanna risk the trafic.

Yeah your landlords are deffinately working the angle, but well you gotta take the moral bad with the personal gain on that one. BTW. Jersey is the place to be these days. prices about the same as queens, better views, and places like hoboken are filled with young people. Its a 20 something croud.

My cousin has a waterfront place there and has well what WAS an amazing view of the WTC, and lower manhatten, andf he pays 2,200 if i recall

I still concider us Nyers lucky. San Fran is the most expensive in the world, so i can only imagine their rents.

    PEACE
