Call me crazy, but I would rather give up Donuts than White.

Assets I would least like to give up:

White, Toronto's pick, Donuts, Parsons, Lamb, Jones, Our pick (which I would assume would be a pick for next year considering we would make the playoffs and that pick would then go to NJ),...

All in all, would rather just go with our young guys, trade Scola and Martin and get some more picks for them.

The Magic want to trade everyone on their team for everyone on the Rockets so we can be the Houston Magic and they the Orlando Rockets.

I don't think we can trade Montiejunas now that he has signed.

This is exactly the point! The combination of Dwight being so vocal on not signing any long-term extensions with LA or Houston and with the crappy Nets offer that has been rumored, the Rockets are actually in the DRIVERS seat right now.

Orlando will get more and more desperate since the Nets offer is garbage (and plus, why would they want to create another powerhouse in the East?) and realize that the original Houston offer of 3 first round picks, future picks etc + Lowry/Martin/Scola is far more superior to Lopez+ Late firsts+ commode.

For a new GM to give away Dwight for garbage when Houston's offer has been documented to be MUCH BETTER would not help ingratiate himself with the Orlando fans.

Thus Morey can just sit back and watch these 3 team, 4 team deals fall apart, observe what is being offered and when the Orlando GM wants to go back to what was initially offered, Morey can play hardball, keep some of our young guns and still make a sweeter offer with the Raptors pick, Dallas pick, Martin/Scola, fillers, and maybe one of the younguns Jones/Patterson/Morris/Lamb....... <-------- this STILL blows out any other offer on the table other than Bynum possibly, but he has made it clear he will not sign a long-term deal with Orlando.

So Orlando gets future picks, good young players, and cap room to sign major free agents. What's not to like? With the Nets offer, they build around Lopez, crappy players, and have less cap room to maneuver. So I think Houston can get Dwight and NOT SELL THE FARM.......Look at what all is being offered, we have the best combo for a team to rebuild. At this point, Morey DOES NOT have to overpay like before the draft. I think we are actually in a better position now than before.

Question would you get the Nets offer or just let him leave? I'd rather not have Brick Lopez on my roster for max while my team is tanking.

agree...I like these guys. would like to keep Lamb too if possible. I don't think we have to overpay for Dwight now..give them future pics, patterson, jones and salary filler.

    I'd trade McHale for Dwight.
    Maybe.

D-Mo at this point is a much surer thing in the NBA than White. Could White end up being better? Sure, but I don't know what position he will play. In a few years D-Mo could be a 7' 260 pound center with an excellent face up and back to the basket game. And from the games and film I have seen him in, the guy loves to bang on the low post.

D-Mo, White, and Parsons are the ones I don't want to trade.

Otherwise it would seem to be a bit of give and take.
The more crap contracts we take, the less prospects/picks we give.
If there were any assurances that Dwight would stay, we could give and take more.
Since there aren't, it will be curious to see.

If I had my druthers the deal would be something like:

Martin, Morris, Jones, Tor Pick, Dal Pick, 2 NY 2nds + filler
(also willing to give up Lamb & Patterson but hope not to)

for Howard, J Rich, & Duhon
(don't really want Turk and def don't want Davis)

Do not want DH. He'll be gone in a year, and then I will have to possibly relive the feelings of loss I experience when I see Rudy G. in Memphis as a result of that idiotic Battier trade when one of the youngsters we trade away will be blowing up on another team possibly in 3 years and DH will be in Los Angeles still whining without a title, but our statistician asset manager will have finally landed a star...sigh :(
