Too bad, you could have gotten it for $3 a month.

while i hypothetically agree with this... i think that NBA league pass isn't on HD, right?

i also have an HD tv... so it makes watching the non-HD broadcasts hard to watch. but i'll take what rockets i can get.

I know for a while, you could get it with either League Pass or your regular service, but then I guess the NBA started charging cable/sat providers to have it (I think). Some providers then made users pay extra to get it or they kept it free. So... I think it depends on whether or not it's free, but I'm not sure it was ever really a part of NBA League Pass - I thought initially it was, but maybe not.

I complain every year, and I get LP every year. My big beef last season (besides my "normal" complaint... get to it in a sec) was that I had to buy NBATV, after the season had started and well into it, if memory serves, in order to get games moved from LP to this new NBA money maker. It wasn't Time/Warner's fault. The NBA got even more greedy, as is their typical way of treating us fans. They could have waited until the season was over to start charging for NBATV, but no! There goes another $2.50 or so a month. (grrrr...)

My biggest beef with them, or with Time/Warner (they always blame the NBA), is that I can't simply write them a check or charge the $159, or whatever the early fee is. They force you to pay it in 4 installments. They won't take my damn money! Result? My lady sees an extra "whatever it is per installment" every month on the cable/Roadrunner/DVR/premium channel bill for 4 months, and it ticks her off. She could care less if I just paid for it before the season starts, but instead she sees this "surcharge" while we're paying off the holiday expenses from Christmas and so on.

Does this give anyone else a hassle? I try to snag the cable bill and pay it before she sees it, but man if she sees it I hear, "We're sending Time/Warner this much every month?? Get rid of the Playboy channel! Uh, wait, I like that too. Get rid of Cinemax instead."

Ticks me off. Hope I can pay a lump sum this season. I'll find out real soon, because I'm not missing a game this year. DVR's are sweet!

I don't think there's any reason why you can't pay in one lump some. You can pay the full $159 or whatever it is and then have that extra money as a credit on your account. It would work the same way.

Thanks for that Deckard because I don't won't to hear my wife's "and why do you need those channels" complaint once a month. I never had LP and wanted to pay in one lump sum. I have DirectTV, will I have to get NBATV?

I thought you TimeWarner folks got NBATV free, because my father has it and I know he isn't paying extra for anything.

RM95, I tried to get it paid in a lump sum. I've been trying for a least the last four seasons. I've done the, "Let me speak to your boss!" routine as well, and can never manage to do it. They tell me that they don't understand it, either. Some "higher power" prevents it. If anyone gets joy from Time/Warner on this, before I get LP this season (which will be soon), I'll be happy to hear how it happened.

By the way... I sent the full amount once, because an underling said he thought I could, and got a zero balance on my next bill and the damn payments starting around the first of the year. This has been a major headache for me.

Just bought NBALP today from Dishnetwork. $169 early bird (regular $189) ends November 8.

One question for you *older* subscribers: does NBALP have blackouts? In other words, if a game is on national TV, say ESPN, will LP still broadcast it?

I think the answer is no. I've had League Pass for 3 years but can't remember exactly because I've also had ESPN, NBATV, etc. But I think, for the most part, if it is on national tv, it isn't on one of your league pass channels.

No. It will direct you to that channel the game is playing on. You have to check NBATV for scheduling...
