Firstly...are you in college? and not some city or community college but an actually University? The more prestigious the school the better. Secondly... how is your gpa? You are competing for a high income job.Teams want the brightest and hardest working. Thirdly.... How involved are you in school? Have any internships? any involvement in your school's athletic department? This is the time to form relationships with people who can help you down the road. Kid, unless you are some former nba player or coach you have to go through this route.... They are not going to throw a multi-million dollar job to anyone. They want the brightest and hardest working.
You know more and more I am seeing people post such rude comments !! He asked a simple question and maybe he's a 14 year old High School student who really doesn't know !! What if one day he does become a GM and then we would all be his b****es !!!!!!!! Mcgrady 33090 I'm not sure how much a GM makes because it varies but I know its a whole hell of a lot more than $20 - 100 k !! This is my opinion, first off you have to have a very high BB IQ so learn the game first and that will be a good start !!!!
Morey went to MIT??? KEWL I attended Boston U for a year before being suspended Me and my awesome study habits
My brother is twelve and even he knows that you either are a graduate from a university with high honors or a former nba player or coach... If the poster is under 14, he still has plenty of time to reach his goal. Just do really well in high school and earn your ticket to a good university or become an nba player.... But if the poster is already of college age and is not in the process already it might be to late to discover his "dream"...
I doubt it's all about the money... if you really are going to go through all the trouble it would take you to become a GM (read the routes mentioned above) you probably will have an MBA. Obviously Morey was not hired for his vast amount of expertise in basketball but rather his ability to implement statistics into basketball. Anyways, if all you are concerned about is money, there are tons of other jobs out there after you get your MBA (assuming you are going to a top school) that you could e.g. Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Investment Banking etc. But if sports is your passion, I'm sure there a ton of positions you could go towards in sports that are close to being a GM but not the actual GM.
