It used to be about $10.00.

Now that I am budgeting my spending, I carry $125.00 at the begining of each to get me through that week. That is only for food, gas, and after church lunch.

I never have cash except for rare occasions. I use the check card for everything.

I'm old school. I like having cash on me because I hate swiping, sliding, punching and signing. Plus, I grew up with a father that would wrap a hundred dollar bill around a bunch of dollar bills, and it's still kinda cool to me.

I'm the same way with technology. I have never used an MP3 player or an IPOD. I feel really old school when it comes to cell phones since mine doesn't have a camera and I can't download 50 Cent for my ringtone. For credit cards, I use just one for almost all my purchases.

Don't think you two are alone in the horse racing club. I dig the ponies.

my wallet feels empty if theres less than $100. I usually like to have anywhere between $100-$300 for visits to the casino and just to have my wallet "feel right."

I try to use my credit card as much as possible (for the % rebates/cash back).

As for not carrying more than $20 around, I had a friend who used to say that and act like he was saving a lot of money. Of course he didn't take into account that he was paying about 7-8% interest on every $20 of his he took from the ATM that was charging him $1.50 to do it. So if you take $20, why not cut the interest in half by getting $40 or something? ;)

I usually carry $20-$40 on me and charge the rest. That $20-$40 usually lasts me a month or so.

Oh man, I NEVER use an ATM that charges me. I only use my bank's ATM's. Sometimes it seems like I'll see a million other ATM's before coming up on a WaMu one, but I won't pay that extra $1.50 to take MY money out of MY account.

I don't know how banks get away with that fee.

I've found that I spend much more money when I use my check card, so we've started to ATM our budget for the week and use that cash for our weekly expenditures like groceries, going out, etc. It's helped us save a bunch of money. Except for this week.
