He played 20mpg for 53 games. That is barely even a shell of his former self (whose credentials you are somehow trying to use as a positive for LeBron's Cavs). Kidd and Marion aren't in their prime but they both played around twice as many minutes as Shaq. They were important contributors to the Mavs. Shaq was not.

BTW, I see from your posts here and on InsideHoops that you indeed are a Kobe fanboy so I understand where the motivation is. My instincts are sharp as a tack.

Is Barea an important contributor to the Mavs in the playoffs? He averages less minutes than Shaq.

BTW This topic doesn't have anything to do with Kobe. Kobe's competition are fellow legends. LeBron has already exposed himself as the poor man's Scottie Pippen.

No Mavs are way way deeper. They don't necessarily have an all star other than dirk, But they are pretty stacked with impactful veteran role players like Terry, Marion, JJ, Kidd.

The Cavs team was build differently though because Lebron always had the ball in his hand and ran the offense. So they pretty much stacked it with three point shooters and slashers like Anthony Parker, Mo, Jamario Moon, Gibson. Add that with some tough defensive forces like Varejao and Hickson.

Again, the MO of a Kobe fanboy is to denigrate other players who they perceive are threatening his legacy, so that's why you are suddenly chiming in on this topic. Whether LeBron is legitimate "competition" or not is irrelevant; the fact that he is even in the discussion annoys the fan club parade and they must descend on the Internet like a plague of locusts to set things straight.

LeBron is in the same position MJ was at the same age. You are kidding yourself if you don't think he'll win, and, fair or not, winning changes people's perceptions. He'll probably win a title this year, and he'll certainly win a bunch over the next five or six years. No one is going to give two ****s about this series in ten years when he retires with great accolades and great numbers.

Even though im in my anti lebron stage of denial I will still say that lebron's teammate in cleveland were no where close to these mavs that being said, lebron stated that his cleveland teammates shrunk in the moment, well even they didnt shrink as much as lebron has in the finals. Mo Williams is some where laughing at you lebron!!

I chime in when I see people perpetuating myths and lacking facts. I don't even care if LeBron wins or loses. If he wins suddenly his fanboys will cherish sidekick titles and it will only enhance young Kobe's champion success with Shaq, if he loses suddenly his apologists will scramble to come up with a new round of excuses. Either way I will be thoroughly entertained.

So basically your life revolves around Kobe's perceived success. That is.. well, no need to go there.

Mo Willaims has been to the finals?
Lebron shrinked against Chicago and Boston in the playoffs?
Lebron was the best player in the playoffs until Miami faced Dallas, so he has done a lot more then Mo Willams will, or ever has.

Dirk is arguably the best player in the playoffs so far, not Lebron.

Agree, that's why I said up to the finals, people are forgetting just how good Lebron was against the Celtics and the Bulls.

Dirk was and still is the best and most consistent player in the entire playoffs, not just the finals.

People forgot how good Dirk was against Lakers and Thunder.

Lebron's supporting cast was similar in quality to Dirk's.

All this winning in the playoffs makes the players look better than they really are. Just look at this:

    • Chandler's the best center Dirk ever had, but he's "just" a 10 pts, 9.5 rpg player (these playoffs more like 8 and 9).
    • Matrix was supposed to be more or less done in Toronto, where he averaged 14 ppg and 8 rpg. Now he's a 12 and 7 guy, ind the playoffs more like 12 and 6.
    • Kidd used to be a great point guard, but he's 37 years old and averaged 8 ast and 8 pts on 36% shooting this season.
    • Barea, even though he had some very nice games only averages 8.6ppg on 40% shooting in these playoffs.
    • This years positive surprise is Terry with 17 ppg on 46% and 44 3pt%.

After Dirk, the Mavs have TWO players who average more than 10 ppg:
    - Terry with 17 pts and
    - Marion with 12 pts.

    Last Year's Cavs had:
    - Jamison @ 15 ppg
    - Mo Williams @ 14.4 ppg
    - Shaq @ 11.5 ppg

Here are PER numbers for the regular season for players with more than 300 minutes played for Cavs 2009-10 and Mavs 2010-11 (I excluded Beaubois & Butler because they're irrelevant for the later playoff run):

    The better question is:
How much better is LeBron's '11 supporting cast than his '10 supporting cast?

Wait, LeBron IS the supporting cast.

The real question is: Can LeBron win a championship on this roster?

Starting: Howard, Amare, Melo, Wade, Rose
Off the bench: Noah, KG, Bosh, Ray Allen, DWill, LeBron.

    I bet they will lose.

looks pretty similar, who would be the better defensive teams? varejao is better than anything dallas has, tbh, the 09 celtics is a better team than anything miami played this year anyway.
