The east is a lot easier then the West .. besides Miami etc ..

Rockets would be like .. 5th seed 6th seed in the east because of how bad the teams are, it's nothing to do with coaching.

Melo's team has also being playing together a lot longer. This Rox is essentially in its first year together.

I think y'all are still missing the point of my post. I'm not suggesting they need to practice them more or asking why don't they. I'm not saying they should be a larger part of our offense, either.

Our offense is set and likely will be for the near future. It results in threes and shots at or near the rim. With that in mind, do they even need to practice their mid range game at all? If they are, isn't it a waste of time? Would Smith spend time shooting threes, if he's never going to shoot them in a game, unless it's a desperation shot? Maybe he takes 3 a season, so does that warrant practicing it every practice? Once a week? Or should he never at all?

Forgot about him, since he hasn't been playing, but he's been inconsistent anyway. Notice the first group is all vets, Lin still needs more experience to hit it consistently. He hasn't had to this year because of how the offense is designed.

cool, it was just kinda funny to me that you left his name out but you mentioned all those other guys.

i don't know if you're aware of it, but lin's got the best mid-range FG% on the team, 41%, which is above average.

    he's got quite a lot of attempts too, 146 vs 266 3PA. harden ,31%, only has 183 attempts and 520 3PA.

Midrange shots are just awful in efficiency. But they do have their uses---you can almost always get a decent one off, and it is good to mix things up a bit. And the Rockets still do shoot a few, and it is good that they only shoot a few.

How do you know they do practice it and do you know how much?

It seems odd to me that you think this is a waste of a thread. You train for what you do, not for what you don't do or are unlikely to do (specificity of training principle). Again, i understand the need to practice it some, but if the Rockets are devoting more time than is necessary, then i don't see how that's not wasted time. Like i said before, there is still room for significant (and realistic) improvement. It's not like asking a 90% Ft shooter to spend less time on their post game to practice free throws.

I guess the most important question would be, how much practice time is too much? That's why i was hoping Clutch would reply, so that we'd have an idea of how much time they're actually spending on it.
