Most people never saw him play before he came to America. So he was just about impossible to judge him if you havent seen the guy play. We knew what Dunleavy Jay Will Wagner etc. could do since we saw them play but Ming he was all speculation. I trust Rudy when it comes to evulating talenat so I knew he would be good if him and CD thought he was worthy of a #1. But I never expected him to have this big of a impact this soon but I'll take it.

Remember who to credit with that nickname.

I didn't really speak out against Yao, but deep down, I had reservations. I did speak out that I was concerned about the dealings with China. It was nail-biting at time, but in the end, everything we were told was going to happen....happened.

Anyway, like everyone else, I'm obviously impressed with Yao, but what I'm most surprised with is HOW he's impressing me. I did not expect him to be this physical. I did not expect him to get in there and mix it up. I expected him to be savvy....but not this smart.

And the court vision and passing.....

    Oh.

    My.

    God.

i just didn't know...refman and i had a conversation before the season where we both said, "who knows what's gonna happen this season?? i don't expect ming to come in and make a huge offensive impact on this team, but i do expect a defensive impact pretty soon, just by virtue of his height."

there were so many uncertainties about ming and the rockets in general...i'm happy that things have worked out well!

This is the least that I have expected from him! I have been waiting for two years to see it happen. If you check back my prediction, prior to the season,it was an average for this season of 15pts and 9 rbs.

It didn't really surprise that he would turn to be a "keeper" like the ESPN sports anchorman stated after the game vs. the Queens!!:) Remember during the off season, he was scouted heavily by NBA scouts, coaches, GMs, etc..!!;) Even CD & Rudy T was checking this guy like they like they would check out a hot babe!!:D J/K aside, I also checked out the 'net, sports tv, and various sports magazine pertaining to this guy! And what I saw and read about was that he can move well for a big man and has a nice shooting touch, and that he was freakin' tall!!!;) All I can say is that the ROXS are back!!!! My ROY!

I expected Ming's first 6 games or so (the poor ones and the ones where he never played) to be what Yao did for most of the first half of the season. I NEVER expected him to adapt this quickly.

I am stunned. I expected steady slow progress. I predicted 2 years before he would have a significant impact, etc. I have always said that his intelligence is the key and it has been. But, overall, WOW, I'm amazed! He is progressing more rapidly than I ever imagined. I bet Rudy is equally surprised.

I really wanted Yao to succeed in the long-term with the Rox and in the NBA. But even in my most optimistic view, I would never have imagined his progress.

The kid just gets better and better with each game. He seems to bring out something new and amazing as the young season progresses. First his shooting, then his rebounds, then his defense, then his vision, now his friggin' passes!!! Throw in the fact that he seems to be charming and a humble guys. It's insane. He's gotten Rox and general bball fans eating out of his hands.

    :D

I am flabbergasted. To say pleasantly surprised would be a huge understatement.

Even Yao's supporters thought he would need a few years. By that time, he'll be the league MVP.

I knew he would come in and make a big impact. The guy played professional ball in China for what, 4 years? Then we get see him play at the Worlds and come out top center in the whole tournament.

He's no average rookie. He has the mindset of an aged veteran.

I actually think this is just the beginning, he will be doing a lot more by the end of the season and into the playoffs. To say I'm surprised with his play so far, would be a lie.

I figured he would be a 12 and 8 player this year, and that he would explode after the all star break.

The only reason I thought this is that I figured Rudy would bring him along more slowly then he has.

I have always believed that he has a chance to CHANGE the game of basketball.

Hall of fame, here he comes !!
