three idiots so far. Lets keep them coming guys! Buzz killed people in Korea and was born in 1930, growing up in a time when saying crap like that was asking for an ass kicking.
I cannot personally conceive of the exact processes NASA employed to put people on the moon. Therefore, it didn't happen.
They had a major problem. They didn't know what the moon surface was going to be like exactly, and when they got there the landing site was a disaster. They had to navigate to find a better spot and almost lost fuel, ruining the mission, and causing a space catastrophe. That's why on the tape, when he says "The Eagle has landed" you don't hear excitement from "Tranquility Base" you hear relief. The receiver mentions being blue in the face and nervous.
I was just reading about that and apparently the first words from the Moon wasn't "The Eagle has landed" but Buzz Aldrin going through a systems checklist.
I think that is the strongest argument against faking a moon landing. I always find it interesting how people will complain about how inefficient and bungling the government is but then also believe the government is capable of running vast and complex conspiracies such as faking 9/11 and the Moon landing.
"Houston, the Eagle has landed." And I don't care what anybody else says, "Houston" was the first word spoken on the moon.
That isn't true. You can hear the audio here http://www.nasa.gov/62283main_landing.wav Aldrin: Yes. Okay. Contact light. OK, engine stop. Armstrong: Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed. Contact light means the wires hanging down have touched the surface. You can see them here At that time you kill the engine because you are low enough to drop. So Buzz just noted the contact light and killed the engine. Technically engine might have been the first words but the first official words we know of are Armstrong's
My stepson asked me if the moon landing was fake this last weekend. He's 12. He'd been watching some conspiracy theory show on TV and was convinced that the landing was fake. My response to this was so fervent I kind of feel bad for getting in his face about it. But it is beyond ridiculous to me that people would go out of their way to ignore very obvious facts and logic to try to tear down one of USA's greatest achievements. I had a 15 minute long argument with my brother-in-law as well about the same thing. In the end, people find it "sexy" for there to be conspiracies. I can understand that. I can see how JFK, 9/11, etc would become more interesting to people if there was a "man behind the curtain" type deal. But the sheer amount of ignorance and brainwashing required to convince yourself that the moon landing was fake boggles my mind. Edit: To me, one of the greatest arguments against the faking is the video of them walking on the moon and seeing the low gravity. You know how many television shows or movies have attempted to realistically fake low/zero gravity on their film with considerably better technology? You know how many of them were even remotely successful to the degree that NASA was, assuming the moon landing was fake? ZERO. None of the low gravity stuff in movies looks even halfway worth a damn unless they film in the vomit comet, and the "sets" shown in the moon landing videos were far too large to be something done on a plane (or even in orbit up in space).
Not to mention the extensive video of the lunar rover cruising along, dust trails quickly falling to the moon's surface, strongly suggesting the absence of air resistance.
That is interesting as I was just reading this morning on MSN a reporter who covered NASA then saying that Aldrin goes through a checklist before those words are uttered. I was just searching for the original article on MSN and can't find it anymore. Maybe there is a conspiracy afterall!
The more I read this quote, the more appalled I become. I had no idea there were people out there who actually think that we should be able to see someone walking on the moon with our naked eyes. Wow.
I dedicate my whole life to watching for people on the moon 24/7. I also multi-task to double my production by smelling for God simultaneously.
I've already stated my opinion that is not fake. However, your argument doesn't fly. If the moon landing was fake in the first place... then any attempt at faking 'low/zero gravity' would be faking something that is already fake. The initial 'zero gravity look' could have been whatever they wanted it to seem like.
Eh? Gravity is a force that pulls you down. Low gravity would be less acceleration downward, hence the floaty behavior. You don't need a moon landing to tell you how low gravity will feel.
