I'm not saying it was faked BUT with the billions of people on Earth there were never any eyewitness accounts let alone third party photographs, someone should have spotted those guys up there. I was just about to post that if anyone has seen Robotech then they know the Earth is actually a really big spaceship. Then I started looking it up and I can't find that storyline in Robotech at all. IM'd a friend who is really into Anime about it and he doesn't remember that. Anyone know which Anime I'm talking about? The world we live in is actually a huge spaceship hurtling through space. There is a dome above us to fake the sky etc.

Okay, this is pretty depressing that anyone really sees a "controversy." Yeah, we built Saturn V rockets, launched them in front of people. Kept guys in space for days. Used beyond-state-of-the-art special effects to create movies, (including magical gravity reduction stage!), etc... oy.
