Pre-injury McGrady? Yes, I definitely want him on my team.

    Post-injury McGrady? Not a chance.

Fortunately, the poll specifies one or the other, so I said "Yes". :)

One thing I was thinking about was ... are there any other players that have this trait similar to McGrady, of being primarily a jumpshooter, but shooting a relatively poor free throw percentage?

I don't understand how someone who shot such a high volume of jump shots could hit at 68% from the stripe.

With this season being the exception (80%), his last 5 years were all in decline:
    03-04 .796
    04-05 .774
    05-06 .747
    06-07 .707
    07-08 .684

In 5 years, that is a decrease of 12% points from the stripe....

Anyway, no I don't miss him.

    Healthy TMac, yes.

Unhealthy one that missed the wide open dunk and scored 3 points against the Bucks, no.

hell yeah. Just cant stop wishing that instead of wafer playing, its Tmac playing.

And with Tmac playing, AB will have less trouble handling the ball and can concentrate on being the scorer he is.

You got to admit, with tmac in the game, the whole complexion of the game changes. As you have a player that is a triple threat. Instead of seeing artest bull dozing his way and look like his going to lose his ball any second.

Triple threat? I don't think so, unless it is the Orlando version of TMac years ago. Yes, you're right in saying that with TMac playing, AB will have less trouble handling the ball. Under that senario, AB will just bring the ball up to mid-court and pass it to TMac and his job is done.

The team play and ball movement are better now than ever before.

I don't miss him one bit.

Except for Hakeem, Tracy is by far my favorite player. So yeah I miss watching him very much. :(

Damn right I do. A healthy T-Mac makes this team championship contenders. The way we are now is similar to last year. It's fool's gold. We are not contenders by a long shot.

Maybe we can sneak past the first round, but I'm sure at the beginning of the season, everyone's eye was on the championship, and not just getting past the first round. That's only possible if we had a healthy Tracy. Unfortunately, we don't.

If we have a bad showing in the first round, I expect there to be PLENTY of this.

Did the OP's post remind anyone else of...

Champ: "We need you. Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without you. I miss you so damn much. I miss being with you, I miss being near you. I miss your laugh. I miss your scent; I miss your musk. When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together...."

Brian Fantana: "Take it easy, Champ. Why don't you sit this next one out, stop talking for a while."

Not me, I expect people to be realistic, this team is what it is......and can get better.....

There are flaws and holes, but at least they play hard.....they just have to keep Artest and his knuckleheadish ways in check.

You think people are going to be realistic??? On the CF bbs?! Fans are always really good at assigning blame (deserved or not) and it tends to go to extremes here. I expect tons of b****ing if we play poorly in the first round. History suggests that this will be the case.

I would appreciate a player like Tracy more in tough situations, IE play off time, when defenses zone in on Yao, we would be able to go to him to make plays for us. I'd prefer not to have the Tmac that isn't healthy and again one that plays inconsistently because who wants a player who plays 5 out of 9 games with passion? If you aren't going to be consistently with the effort you put in, why play? During the season we'll roll along well because we can depend on our bench and our players but once playoffs come along things get a bit more complicated and we're going to sorely miss production from Tmac's end. Hopefully every one on this team steps up come play off time, if not we're doomed to extend that 12 year 1st round drought to 13..
