I wonder what portion of Asians actually living in Asia became Rockets fans because of Yao and still are Rockets fans now that he is gone. Also, I would be curious to know about how many Asians (currently living in Asia) began to frequent this board when Yao joined the Rockets and still do.
So just how good was that minute? Oh, back on topic: I, for one, stopped watching during the Yao years. It wasn't a conscious decision, but after being raised on Hakeem and laughing at tall lanky awkwardball guys (e.g. Shawn Bradley, etc.) it was really hard to watch a Yao-led team. Sorry all, I just got bored. Now shall I incur the wrath of East Asia!
I came here because of Rudy, Calvin, Moses, et al. I started following the team when they moved from San Diego. The team used to be under much better ownership, much smarter from a basketball point of view. It is not just about spending money, it is about speeding wisely. Perhaps Morey will be the answer, but he hasn't proven anything yet.
I'm Asian. But I became a Rockets fan since '94 season. I guess you can say I'm a bandwagoner those days.
So you are a Yao fan too since you are Asian? Your love for oyster omelette gives your nationality away.
I came here because of Yao and T-mac. I developed a love for the organization during all the trying seasons. Both are gone and I'm still a big fan. All my friends, who are NBA addicts, know me as the Rockets guy. I am hopeful that one day, one day, and I hope that day won't be too far off, that the Rockets will be at the top of the helm once again. I CANNOT WAIT TO CHEER ON ROCKETS RED DURING THE FINALS. ONE DAY.
