I just paraphrased a little, but I echo the sentiment. Thanks that Codman's insightful and intelligent opinion seems a minority
I was born in 89 and i remember going to games the yr we got barkley. I was going with my grandpa. So i been a fan since 1997 or so =)
i love the Rockets cause they are my hometown team. in every sport i cant root for any team thats not from Houston idk i just dont have the passion when they arnt reppin my town...
I becama a Rockets fan because of Moochie Norris.....no but seriously I was born into a family of Rox fans and will never root for another team.
I really wasn't trying to be insulting, so I apologize if it came across that way. I guess this is what it boils down to for me, in terms of the Yao-related fans. I loved that the Rockets had a larger fan base when Yao came, but at the same time, when Yao was done, many of those fans disappeared. I appreciate the Rockets fans that stay the duration. That's all. Same thing can be said for the T-mac fans. We welcomed them as new Rockets fans when he was traded here, but when he "kicked himself out" of Houston, those fans left as well. I think Rockets fans are minorities overall. Whenever I'm asked about my diehard fandom, and I answer that the Rockets are my team until I die, people look at me with the confused side-eye. If you ask ten random NBA fans who their favorite team is, I bet you get at least 4 Lakers, a couple of Heat and some Celtics/Thunder/Clippers. The Rockets, unfortunately, don't get that attention. I like our team always being doubted. It won't surprise me when we make the playoffs this year out of nowhere. Anyway, if my remark was disparaging, my bad.
I came here becuase I was looking for information about the Rockets and stubbled across the site. I was a fan of the team going back to when they drafted Elvin Hayes in San Diego, so Yao had nothing to do with it. In fact, I'm glad I registered before we got him, and the deluge of new fans brought to ClutchFans by Yao descended upon the BBS. We quickly went from around 3000 members to tens of thousands, thanks to Yao. That's a heck of an impact. It's a tribute to Clutch that he managed to keep the place going during the spectacular growth. An astonishing accomplishment, in my opinion. I'm glad to see many of those fans attracted by the Big Fella decided to stick around. -
I came when T-Mac trade happened.I wanted to see how Yao and T-Mac will dominate the league. What I found , life-long commitment to Rockets not to any players ...
I would like to know who are Rockets fans that have no connections to Houston. How did you become a Rockets fan?
Became a rockets fan because of Hakeem, especially since I frequently saw him in my mosque. I remember trying to get more info on the Tmac trade and stumbled on this site.
