"Rick Adelman is a Gutless Yellow Pie-Slinger..." I see has been closed and the OP has been rookified.
I have to agree... and should I be the one to be a Chuck only fan rather than some Burnnotice dude? Some people are a wee bit illogical.
I avoided it last night, and peeked in today. From the topics alone, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We need new insiders :\
Justice prevails! This is the time of year when I delve into the GARM more, not less. You just have to scan, pan, and find the good stuff.
+1. What I would recommend to those who can leave reputation/feedback .... do it often on posts you think are quality. I think I may need to open up that ability to more than just contributing members. The more data we collect on quality posters the better... I'm all for making improvements and cleaning up the board, and I think we have some... I will say though that if you expect no negative/critical threads, out of thousands of active posters ... well, you're probably dabbling in Hangout snobbery a bit.
its not the fact that there is going to be negative threads after a loss, i expect there to be but there are several of them and many of the threads all contain the same information and all of them can go to the post game analysis thread. lately its just been harder and harder to go in and try to read them all. There are several people who do actually have insightful comments and remarks, both good and bad about the team but almost all their thoughts are being drowned by the several reactionary "bench X player, why doesn't X player pass it to Y player, fire <insert current rockets coach here>" at the rate that people create new threads it often pushes decent/good ones down to the bottom or on the 2nd/3rd pages were no one will end up seeing it. From what some people have put in here and what I've read in the feedback thread it didnt seem like a particulary good day to be reading in the GARM I still believe in instituting a temporary GARM lock down on creating new threads after a game a win or a loss as discussed in the feedback forum. Actually making the reputation points be worth something like if you have X number of points (isnt 50 the change from lowry to brooks?) you can post and create threads after a game and if you dont, you cant create threads and cant post after a certain time constraint. Obviously while I do not want to single out any particular individual or group the ones bringing down the GARM often fall into a set group of people.
That's probably the worst thing about trying to have a discussion in the GARM (and pretty much anywhere else on the internet). There seems to be no room for level-headed criticism. If you say that Yao needs to step it up then you're labeled as a "hater". And if you say that Brooks or whoever really needs to seek Yao out and deliver him the ball, then you're a "YOF". It's the extremes on both sides that yell the loudest and invariably drown out the honest discussion.
Maybe someone can start an 'in the know' thread after each game w/ an ambiguous name where all the solid posters know they can discuss. Logical discussion can drown out potential thread hijackers.
This has been a problem for years and years. Avoiding the GARM for me is now the norm, not an exception. The last time I remember posting any significant number of times in the GARM was when I started this thread about how great the Lowry trade was... which I wouldn't have even bothered doing, except that everyone was b****ing and crying like we just traded away Magic Johnson for a bag of chips, and I just couldn't take it. Before that, jeez... I can't even remember the last time I posted much in the GARM.
the problem is everyone want their opinion to be heard. even if there's already a discussion about that topic. so they create a new thread. pretty much all threads created after a game should go in the game thread. maybe we can split up the game thread into: game action and player discussion. so all the lowry sucks goes in the player discussion..and the refs sucked goes in the game action.
It has become D&D 2.0. My favorite time in the GARM is a couple weeks after the season ends. Usually takes care of the "crazies".
I understand everyone's sentiment, but by not posting in the GARM, you guys are contributing to the problem. Help bring the level up....at least try.... Though I have to admit, it is even getting to me these days. DD
This is what people who scream "THIS SHOULD BE IN THE GAME THREAD" don't undrstand. Technically 95-98% of all posts made after a game probably should be in the post-game thread. But if you dump everything in there, it kills the board. If someone has a legitimate thread that could potentially spur some intelligent discussion, it may not be put in the game thread. But then you have the "post nazis" that come in later and scream the thread should be in the game thread and well, it turns into a circus again. If you take every thread created after the game and dump it into the game thread, you'd have pretty much one massive thread with every idiot and good poster posting their commentary and nobody really being able to keep up with it or willing to read a 20 page thread that moves that fast. And what do you have in the main forum after that? *chirp* *chirp* *chirp* ... because all the discussion is in the game thread. And some of you guys are really overblowing some of this because when you say that the GARM is bad after losses - I can give you that. Some of you can say that it's unbearable after wins - fine, I can give you that. But ... I don't see you guys posting in between games, either - when it's not quite as chaotic.
Not at all, I get tired of trying to reason with people too, but if someone is not in there trying then all you get is a bunch of kids calling each other names, and that could eventually hurt Clutchfans overall. Got to get in there and slug with the kiddos. Also, you guys should be in there rewarding good posts...that is the only chance the reputation feature has of catching on...... DD
