I've got nearly $10,000 saved up which would cover my expenses for quite a while. My girl has another $8,000 saved up as well. Add to that the $8,000 tax credit we'll get back for recently purchasing our first home and we will have about $26,000 to fall back on, more than some people make in a year. I have no idea how long it would last us but my guesstimate is between 1-2 years.
