English and Chinese. I tried German in high school but all I remember now is a few sentence which I cannot even write down.
English, and I can get by with my Spanish, but I am not fluent by any stretch. I can understand French most of the time, but I speak it horribly.
I speak English and Chinese (Cantonese and broken Mandarin). I also learned Russian and French academically. Since it is still a little bit difficult for me to carry a conversation in either, I'd count those as 1/2's. So, 1+1+1/2+1/2 = 3.
No Malay or Tamil? I would consider Singlish a separate language too. I can speak read and write English. Can speak Mandarin read to a lesser degree and write to a even lesser degree than that. Growing up in Texas I picked up a lot of Spanish and can read it well enough to get a gist of something that is written and understand enough to follow along with Telanovellas, when I'm not looking at the actresses chests. In Singapore I picked up some Malay but have forgotten most of it.
English of course, I understand and read/write Tamil, and I can speak some Hindi (although it has deteriorated a lot) along with reading/writing it.
For a second, I thought you were Swoly. As for the languages, I can speak English, Hindi, Oriya, and Tamil fluently and I know enough of Bengali, Malayalam, Punjabi and Urdu to get by effectively. I regret not having paid attention in spanish and french classes in high school.
Farking schnirt! How many languages does India have? Considering the population explosion there, I guess the only phrase that is universally understood in India is "Wanna f*ck?"
El oh el! I am there's plenty more where those came from . It helps when your family is from all over the place and speaks all sorts of different languages.
Nah, though I have a sufficient vocabulary of Malay words for use in everyday conversation.. mostly slang and swear words And Singlish is more of an English-based creole really. If we're including those, then I speak Hokkien (a dialect of Mandarin) pretty well too
