i wonder what morey's projection was (has he mentioned it at all?)

going by this poll, it seems more than 3/4 of clutchfans voters were less than wowed with the regular season results

Well I never actually made a prediction in this thread, but I thought before the season that 55 games seemed like a realistic goal. And the Rockets could've reached that had they played their starters last night.

54 wins is a good result though given the injuries they sustained and how tough the West was this year. My hope is they're healthier next season, take the crappy opponents more seriously, and have a better bench. If all that happens, they could easily win 3-4 more games and compete for at least the 2nd best record in the West.

I forgot whether I voted here. My prediction since December was 55 wins. Just over by 1. :)

54 is not far off the 55-59 range at all. The team probably could have gotten 55+ if it mattered as to playoff seeding in April. For many teams, it's just not that important to try to win some of these end of the season games because they are more or less already locked into a seed and it's more important to get their guys rested and healthy for the playoffs. Harden, Parsons, Lin could have played the last game if they wanted. Dwight probably could have played some of the games he missed if it was critical. Then again, some of these opponents, and many other teams, likely were not totally incentivized to win, either. Portland was likely frustrated at the Spurs sitting their important guys vs HOU in the 2nd half recently. But those are the breaks.

I didn't vote in this poll for whatever reason, but the range that I picked for the team was "between 52-56" in another predictions thread so I feel pretty good about that.

    Two things...

    1. I think most people who picked 55-59 were predicting about 55 or 56 wins and not 58 and 59. So most of those picks were only 1 or 2 wins off from the 54 wins the Rockets finished with.

    2. If it wasn't for Howard and Beverley both getting injured in April, and if the Rockets really needed wins in April, they could have won a few more games than they did.

So I think anybody who said 54, 55, or 56 was pretty much spot on.

I definitely fit this category as I picked 55-59 and said it was closer to 55 than 59.

I thought we'd win 55 games. Could have easily won 56 or 57 had we not got the injury bug with two very important players at the end of the season.
