Well, we did not eat at Chinese restaurants most of the time. The English restaurants were pretty expensive as well and the portion is tiny compared to the steak houses here .
They just up and quit their jobs. So no additional money while they traveled, but they really traveled cheaply. I think they banked about 50,000 pounds in profit when they sold their flat, and the pound has done very well, so they have been able to stretch it quite far. They used to get about 4-6 weeks off a year, but they were forced to take a week between Christmas and New Year. Still they had a lot of time to visit cities in Europe which were only a cheap, short flight away. In Europe, taking a year or two off to travel is not considered a black mark on your job history.
Mexico canada el salvador india japan south korea china malaysia phillipines singapore taiwan thailand bangladesh sri lanka vietnam nepal i counted the countries where i have stayed 2 days or more as visited i've been to others if you techinically want to count stop overs for like 4-10 hours at the airport
I've lived in 7 different countries, moved 14 times in my life. My dad used to get tickets to travel 3 times a year from his work, so we used that to our full advantage, been all over..... My favourite country was Venezuela, I just loved the landscape and the people(women)....Italy was the worst.
Hawaii (counts as a separate country) U.S.A. Canada Mexico Belize Costa Rica Puerto Rico Dominican Republic St Martin Brazil Anguilla UK France Spain Germany Austria Switzerland Czech Republic Hungary Denmark Holland India Thailand Austrailia New Zealand Indonesia
My list includes: Canada Mexico Belize Cayman Islands Peru Argentina Uruguay UK France Spain Morocco Switzerland Czech Republic Austria Italy Greece Turkey Saudi Arabia India China -Texas should count as a country, separate from the US. There are so many places to see, I'm excited just thinking about it. Next up is Egypt/Jordan, then Slovenia/Croatia. New Zealand and Australia are the places I really can't wait to see.
my wife is planning it as we speak, we are going for 2 weeks. btw-any border issues with the pakistan stamp in your passport, when you entered israel?
I am only 19, but I have been to a lot North America USA -Too many to name Canda -Toronto Europe United Kingdom -London Ireland -Kilkenny -Waterford -Cork -Killarney -Galway -Dublin France -Paris -Strasbourg Belgium -Brussels Germany -Berlin Czech Republic -Prague Switzerland -Zurich -Bern Spain -Madrid -Barcelona Italy -Rome -Milan -Venice Greece -Athens -Mykonos -Corfu Croatia -Split Asia Japan -Tokyo -Kyoto -Osaka China -Hong Kong -Beijing -Guangzhou Next up is probably Russia
I crossed the border by foot from Egypt to Israel and they pretty much interviewed me for half an hour (asking family history, why I had visited there, where I was born (US), etc.) and then held my passport for an hour while I waited (they were probably doing some sort of background check / Googling me). I finally got the all clear after about an hour and a half/ two hours. On the way back we flew from Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv, and the security there took about another hour or so, with the same types of questions. Everyone was being really polite about it though, so I really didn't mind (which wouldn't be the case for an Israeli trying to visit Pakistan)
Same here... but you'd take Venezuelan women over Italian? Granted, there were better Italian women in London and Melbourne than Italy. I'd have to say Taiwan was the worst for me... Moscow was the worst airport (don't think it's changed much since Lenin) and I was there for 2 days.
Off the top of my head I'm not sure how many countries I've been to since my family worked overseas for a year while I was young and we travelled around. I'm picking 11-15 to play it safe. Here's the ones I can recall. Ireland Northern Ireland Singapore Hong Kong PRC Indonesia Malaysia Thailand Sri Lanka Japan Taiwan South Korea Canada Mexico Saudi Arabia whoops looks like I voted too soon England France Lebanon Iran I think there are a few more there. So far my two favorites are Ireland and Sri Lanka and would love to go back to either one.
My dad has the ability to find Chinese restaurants pretty much anywhere in the world. I remember as a kid eating at a Chinese restaurant in Beirut and that was when technically there still was a war going on.
Canada St. Bartholomey St. Maarten/St. Martin Peru Chile Iceland Norway Sweden Denmark The U.K. Germany France Underpants The Netherlands Belgium Luxembourg Italy Switzerland East Germany Israel Palestinian Territories (under self-rule) probably some i missed...
