    Great post.

I tell you, many of these young'ns are too young to have experienced the many hopeful but agonizing Oiler years. I can understand how this can be the final straw.

Agreed... compared to other big cities, Houston sports (all of them) are still basically "expansion" franchises.

If you want suffering, look at the Cubs fans now, Red Sox fans before that, and Phillies fans even before that. Look at the NFL Cardinals franchise that has barely been to the playoffs in its existence (and they were one of the FIRST franchises EVER).

Houston has a long way to go... still... in the "suffering" race.

I've been loyal to ALL Houston franchises since the early 70's, when I was but a tender child.

I made the move when the Oilers made the move. Never thought Houston would EVER get another NFL team. No bandwagon here.

The Dummies, I mean Texans, mean nothing to me.

& yes, that feels weird. But really, I feel nothing.

The Titans are & will forever be the Oilers to me.

    Luv ya blue, y'all. :p

The fact that compared to other cities, Houston is still (collectively) a "youngin"... and proclaiming the great "despair, hurt, shock, depression" that comes with a draft pick may be a little over the top, and is nothing compared to what some other cities have had to go through in their evolution.

I still won't trade Houston sports for anything else... but you have to keep the "hurt" in perspective.

i've never known houston with the astros or rockets. i was born in 74...my earliest sports memories involve them and the oilers. to me, the astros and rockets aren't "expansion" teams in any sense of the word.

the astros are a long suffering franchise. i love them dearly...more than any other sports franchise. but they're suffering is only beaten by the cubs, at this point, in my book among baseball teams.

The Nationals/Expos haven't been in the playoffs since 1981. We've had a very good team to watch and have been very forutnate over the last ten or so years.

Same with me... I was mainly appealing to those who think this is a disaster of "biblical" proportions. I don't care that the Houston sports don't benefit from any "bias" due to the location, and age of the city.

Also, if the Stros are a "suffering" franchise... how pathetic must the Texas Rangers be? (a franchise that's one year older)

I just wanted to be clear that I never said I was going to "abandon" the Texans (and I know you didn't say that), but rather that I've never been able to "get into them." I was excited about them getting Young, who seemed like a "no brainer" pick, to me. I really didn't care if we have Carr as well, and hoped that he would be competing for the job with Vince, which I think would be good for both for a couple of years, or that Carr would be worth something in a trade. (if he isn't, why are we building the franchise around him??)

Bush was a logical second choice, and something for the fans to get excited about. I always wanted Young, instead. Williams may turn out to be the second coming of LT, and I hope he is, but I don't see the college career to justify the top pick in the draft. Just my opinion, and I hope I'm wrong. I not going to become a "Titans fan," although I'll follow their games because of Young. I was looking for a reason good enough for me to get behind the Texans. I've never gotten over the loss of the Oilers.

Oh yeah I forgot. For a second I thought I was on a board for Houston Rockets fans to discuss other Houston sports. I didn't know I had to be a Texans fan to post here.

I didn't say you had to be a Texans fan to post here.

Yes you are on a Houston Rockets fan site telling a Houston Texans fan to leave the Houston Texans sub forum to discuss the Texans.

Edit: If you want to tell him/her to leave a thread, that's fine, I don't have a problem with that but telling a Texans fan to leave a sub forum dedicated to the Texans and the other Houston sports team is pretty dumb.

That is interesting. I have been hearing and reading lately that mnay people who pull for VY were not even UT products. So why did the media and many others continue to paint the clamour for VY as mostly a clamour from UT fans?

Are there A&M folks who wanted VY as well?

It is then safe to conclude that those who wanted Bush or Young badly are just about the same - they wanted something to cheer for more or less - hence, none should calim any sort of superiority. :D

P.S. Who is the next great houston area QB (currently in HS or enterring his college freshman year) that we could look out for as the possible replacement for David Carr should he fall short?

Again I give you a link just in case you are not sure where the a Titans board is. We all know how eager you are to rejoin the Oiler family. You were hoping the Titans would pick Vince Young so I don't even know why you are upset.

The Texans could've drafted the crappy TE we got in the 4th with the 1st pick and I'd still hate the Titans. George coming up short is still priceless.

Wow, all you hard-core badass, long time, 4 year Texans fans are really intimidating me with your tough talk.

My god, will you write people up in the big book of bad-fan-itude if I wish Vince Young well? Scary. And some titans fan might somehow think I'm a VYOF if I do the same? Double Scary. I hope I can somehow go on with life.

Geography must dictate what I enjoy or else I am a bad observer of sporting events - not to mention a bad person. Or am I just a bad forumer? Perhaps I should flood the Hangout with Vince Young related threads now.

So people in LA still LOVE the Rams????
People in St. Louis actaully LOVE the Cardinals??
People in Cleveland LOVE the Ravens??

Are you people on crack for thinking that the Titans are STILL the Oilers in disguise????

The Oilers DIED 10 years ago when Bud moved them. The Texans are now Houston's team!! Get over it!!

Love the Titans for who they are...the Tennessee Titans...not for WHO they were!!!

The Oilers WILL ALWAYS have a special place in my heart...but that team in Tennessee is nothing but the enemy.

I love the Texans...just like I loved the 2-14 Oilers back in the 80's when Chuck Studley was coaching them.

Yep, us Texans fans are trying to talk tough.

No one said geography must dictate what you enjoy and I don't think anyone really cares if you wish Vince well. Just don't bash the Texans in a Texans forum just for sake of doing it and then expect Texans fans to sit back and say yeah, you are right we suck.

There is just no way us fans can be hard-core bad asses in just 4 years. Thank you for telling us how to be fans.

First off, **** the Titans. The Oilers ceased to exist when they left the city. I don't understand hanging on to Tennesee's team before, and nothing has changed now.

    Having said that.

I will support Young and Bush, (except when they play the Texans...it will just piss me off too much to see them burn us if it happens) because they did nothing to me as a Texans fan...except be available for us to take. Not their fault we didn't.

Beyond that, they are both exciting players at the college level and fun to watch. Depressing that they aren't Texans, but if they still bring excitement to the pro game I will be appreciative.

    ....

    Sigh.
