VY is not on the Texans roster so I couldn't give two ****s about what he does or doesn't do in his career.

I'm not a (insert name)OF. I care about our team. I'm not going to change my favorite team if a player get's traded. Or in this case, is passed in the draft.

    Go Texans.

there's nothing wrong with liking/rooting for other teams. what i think it ridiculous is you stop rooting for your team b/c they didn't do what you wanted. to take it a step further, some have claimed they are hoping the Texans lose all their games. geez, why?

    Well said.

I'm seeing more and more positive responses in the days following the draft. Some have moved on and some haven't.

4 seats in section 606 represents.

    Go Texans!!!

if you were a big fan of vince how could you not root for him as a titan? i dont' understand how someone can hate a player just because he's on a team they don't like.

Mario Williams needs to get a Under Armour Endorsement so he can become popular.

It's easy to not root for him because he's not on my favorite team. I wanted Vince and if not him then Reggie. I'm not overly thrilled with the pick of Mario but I don't think it was a huge mistake.

Just because I'm not a Titans fan does not mean I hate him. I do hope he sucks when they play the Texans or any other game that could influence the Texans standings. Other than those games I hope he has a good career.

I will root for the Titans if it means securing a playoff spot for the Texans.

Edit: He was on my favorite college team which is why I was a Vince fan.

Even if I wanted to be a fan of a team in another city than I'm from, I think about all the negatives that goes along with that... and it becomes a serious drawback:

1.) Have to get directv NFL Sunday Ticket to ensure you'll be able to see their games on a weekly basis.

2.) Your "team" isn't on any local talk radio, any local newspaper sites you browse, or subscribe to, or any BBS COMMUNTIES that you frequently visit.

3.) When that team is good... you hardly can pass the time talking about them with co-workers, people at bars, or a guy at the airport... half the fun of being a fan of a team is being able to constantly find others who share the same devotion. Instant conversation.

4.) When the local team you abandoned actually becomes good... you no longer have a chance to enjoy the buzz, or you risk the dreaded "bandwagoner" label.

5.) What happens if the player you followed on your new team either has an injury, gets traded, or is a shell of his former self... you're in NFL fan limbo.

Too much headache... I'll have more fun watching a team grow from horrible/mediocre to contenders anyday over just simply jumping loyalties either based on the past (old Oilers... which are no longer there) or current new players.

BTW... Tennessee doesn't give a s*** about transplanted Oilers fans. Frankly, I wouldn't feel comfortable with some dude from San Diego saying "I'm still a Rockets fan... I wish they were back in San Diego, where they never should have left."

here's the deal. i'm not a titans fan, but for VY. when VY gets traded..leaves...retires...i will not be a titan fan. or at least i don't expect to be. this isn't about a bandwagon. it's about rooting for the guy i've been rooting for for quite some time now.

in truth...the texans will remain my favorite team. but watching VY lead his team will be my favorite thing in the NFL.

The dreaded "VYOF" (which pretty much any of us from UT are going to be by default)... but don't let the die-hard Titans fans know that, or they'll rip you a new one just like we all do with the annoying YOF's here.

And if you found one, you could still pull rank on the Titans fans since you were oilers fan back when they were a bunch of NFL-less backwater Rocky Top spankers.

I'm not going that far but I can sort of understand why some feel that way. I think it's because people felt betrayed by the pick. Most people in Houston were split between VY and Bush, to come out of the draft w/ neither of these guys (added w/ the Texan's past drafts) I could see why people are pissed.

I say this because I got to hear some of the Texan's top guys talk, and they seemed like they had done such a great job the past 4 seasons. They bragged about being one of the top revenue teams in the league, and just really seemed to pat themselves on the back. This irritated me because I felt they knowlingly milked Houston fans for the past 4 seasons. I will support the team because they are the hometeam, but it's gonna come down to the question of: "What have they done for me lately?"

I'm cautiously excited about this upcoming season though. Kubiak should have the offense up and running and they just added a brand new asset to the defense (a pass rusher). We'll see how things turn out.

My dad was so pissed that the Texans passed on Vince, he's threatening to sell his tickets. Now before you start in with "He's not a real fan! Blah, blah, blah," realize that my dad is going to be 66 years old this year and has had season tickets to Houston football since 1969. He's been around longer than pretty much ALL of you, has seen more Houston games in person than ANY of you, and has stayed loyal to Houston teams for a VERY, VERY long time. (I double dog dare you to give him the old "You're not a fan" shtick in person; I guarantee he'll punch you in the face.) For him NOW to threaten to sell his tickets, with all the incredibly bad sh*t that has happened to the Oilers/Texans over the years, tells you something about Vince Young and his drawing power. Granted, he's also a UT alum, but there have been plenty of UT kids who have come out over the years, and he hasn't cared one bit. But for Vince, it's somehow different.

Justifying the Mario pick to my dad was hard because he seemed so damn hurt. It was strange and heartbreaking at the same time. I mean, the guy is 65. He's an adult. He isn't exactly dumb either, having owned and ran a successful business for decades. Yet, I could tell this really affected him. Hopefully, I was able to "talk him down" regarding selling the tickets.

... So, I understand DaDa and MadMax's perspective. If my dad, one of the most loyal fans ever, can waver in his commitment to the Texans, I can only imagine how this would affect someone with even less ties to the team.
