    I will cheer for both.

I was born and raised in Houston, TX. Grew up a die hard Oiler fan. I moved to Nashville, TN for my job in 2000 and lived there for 5 years until I moved back to Houston this year.

I cheer for the Texans over the Titans when they play each other, but I'll always be a fan of both.

    Texans fan all the way.

I hope VY gets knocked on his ass when the Texans play him. And I'm a UT alum and rabid UT football fan.

i hated the titans/oilers after they left. they look a lot different to me now.

i'll root for both. for the first time in my life, my favorite player in a league won't be playing for the houston franchise in that league.

i don't know yet how i'll feel when they start playing each other.

The same people whining about Bud Adams moving the team are the same people who whined about the crappy astrodome and refused to go to the game there.

You're kidding, right? The Oilers sold out virtually every one of their games in the 90's after the rennovation.

at 110% capacity for 8 years. the number one reason bud used for needing a new stadium was bigger capacity to seat all the people who were buying tickets. they weren't sold out before the season started as the texans have been...but they were all gone. even if they had to be guaranteed by randall's first, the walk-ups took care of them by game day.

Bud wanted to be the guy who got all the revenue... which he wasn't getting at the Astrodome (he was simply a tennant there). The "capacity" argument was a conveinient one... but never the main issue.

He went as far to try to capitlize on the Rockets success at the time, by saying that they could "share" the stadium with him (ie - Bud wanted to get a tennant just like he had been all those years).

Like I said before, the city would have built a new stadium for anybody BUT Bud Adams. The fact that they got a team in the end means they were extremely lucky/fortunate that this stance didn't cost them the NFL forever... but it just is a microcosm of the animosity the city had towards Bud Adams.

    Agreed Nick.

By the way, the premiss of this thread is hard to totally agree or disagree with....

Because a lot of Ex - Oiler fans have yet to embrace the Texans.

I will follow both the Texans and Titans, but only from a cursory perspective.

I think the Oilers leaving has probably ripped out my NFL heart forever....I will watch, but only to see if my fantasy guys are getting good numbers.

    :)

Technically sold out, but I always remember the network having to buy up large swaths of seats in order to keep the game from being blacked out.

It's tough. I was always loyal to the Oilers (through all of the annual pain and torture...kick in the door my arse). When Bud went I was pi**ed and never rooted for the Titans (well...ok maybe once or twice. I liked Jeff and the players).

When the Texans arrived, I thought that was it. And courtesy of Houston taxpayers and Houston companies, this team is the 3rd most valuable. Yet IMO decisions swing more to bottom-line factors than championship considerations.

I will openly root for both now. Even with crappy admin, the Texans are still Houston's team.

I remember when Bud bought a full page ad in the Chronicle detailing his plan for a new domed stadium to share with the Rockets (think Alamodome). I think it was supposed to be in Montgomery County. The Rockets were like WTF.

it was supposed to be downtown. i used to have the report from Coopers & Lybrand detailing why it was necessary and the impact it would have on downtown.

Don't know about that. Sounds like McNair may be gone w/i the next day.

(Although I would have assumed the same as you...give VY at least a good year under McNair)

other way around. it was only technical in that Randall's or other businesses would guarantee by the mid-week deadline that they would buy the tickets if they weren't otherwise sold. they were otherwise sold by game time.

I am a Houston sports fan above all else. Bud Adams is the reason the Texans exist and I thank him for it. I'm not sure what some of you wanted with this franchise. They're a total of 4 years in. Things take time. Yeah, the Browns went to the playoffs in year 4. Then what happened? McNair got rid of what was probably the main culprit for regression...the coaching staff. Oh...get over it, too. Reggie ain't a Texan. Mario Williams is our top pick and I believe it will play out to be the right move.

I am a UT fan and a Vince fan, but he is now the enemy. I hope he does well and goes 0-16 at the same time.

HELL Yeah, you may be in the .00001% of UT fans that feel that way though :p

What about us D'Brick fans? ;) We'll see in September where this team is.

Always what I figured. Which makes it all the more sweeter that the guy Houston wanted ended up with Bud. Bud Adams will eventually be dead, apparently Houston and Lanier never grasped that. Fortunately for me I always liked the Titans better so this is pretty cool.

I don't wish this on him, because I like Vince Young. I hope he does well, except when he plays against the Texans.

But what happens if VY turns out to be a piece of crap? Are you VY kool aid drinkers going to hop back on the Houston NFL franchise bandwagon?

If VY turns out to be the Black Jesus that he is preordained to be, then the Texans organization is filled with bunch of idiots.
