Absolutely. The Texans, who booted their franchise into "safe mode" and never pressed "restart," calculated that Williams had a lower chance of becoming a bust, when compared to Young or Bush, due to the position played, talent level, and lifespan of the players being evaluated. Rather than go for the high risk, high reward home run hitter, the Texans played it safe and chose the player with the LEAST downside instead of the MOST upside. (At the very least, Williams will marginally help the D-line. Young, on the other hand, could completely fail to grasp the pro system and go bust. Bush might prove to only be a situational back. And so on.)

Don't get me wrong, though. For the record, I was perfectly okay with the Williams pick.

    Oldtime Oilers fan here.

I root for the Texans and watch as much of their games as I can stand, but I doubt I will ever be as diehard a Texans fan as I was an Oilers fan....until I see the franchise making more positive moves.

I absolutely cannot stand the Tennessee Traitors, and their pathetic owner, but I will now keep an eye on them because of VY. I am also intrigued to see how his talent will play out in the NFL.

I am happy for the New Orleans Saints. If the Texans weren't going to draft Bush, I am glad he went to New Orleans. I hope he can help lead that franchise out of the wilderness, and I hope he can bring joy to the people of New Orleans, who so badly need it.

You can make that argument about Young vs. Williams, but not Bush vs. Williams. In general, a hall of fame DE will have more impact on winning than a hall of fame RB. It's why DE's are the 2nd most paid position in the NFL (I believe) behind QB, while running back is not even in the top 5.

    Curses SamFisher!

You have typed my handle in all caps, christened me "SUPERFAN", referred to me as "your friend" and thrown a cursing tantrum.

    You win.

For somebody that doesn't care about the NFL much anymore, you sure spend alot of time ranting about it on the internet.

Wrong. According to this NFLPA report from last November, DE starters earn less than QBs (#1), RBs (#2), OTs (#3), WRs (#4), and CBs (#5). When you compare ALL salaries (not just starters), DEs are still paid less than QBs, CBs, and OTs. RBs are right after DEs in terms of salary and are still in the top 5.

And yes, I agree that DEs are vital for championship runs, hence I like the pick. Still, I think Bush has more upside and downside than Williams, thus making him a riskier pick (and one the Texans were unwilling to commit to).
