when ranking centers, you need to consider the style of play and the team. Rox already have good flowing offense, sharing the ball and has lots of shooters. The team with no divas, everybody plays for team, young and talented group without ego. What Rox wants from a center is good 1 on 1 defense, good help defense, boxing out, rebounding, setting hard screens, finishing inside. no need for a black hole on offense, or athletic guy tries to block everything and lets team defense loose or an injury prone guy who lets aldrich to play 35 mins for 30 games each season. in this situation i cant think a guy better than asik for rockets. elite defender, only 8 years of basketball, still a lot of room to learn, low salary, a guy with no ego, 2nd most consecutive games played (after westbrook), tough as a tank. this is basketball. stars win at stat sheet, good teams win at courts.
