Honestly as much as he left a sour taste in my mouth, I expected him to average 20 ppg for the Knicks. The only really dangerous Tmac is a motivated Tmac, and he had the motivation to earn a new contract and prove to people he was still a decent player. But now, I can honestly say it's not because of a lack of effort, he seems to be just close to the end. The quotes he is saying now about "Returning to All Star form" and not being "done" are eerily similar to what Penny Hardaway was saying at the end of his career. If Tmac can only produce 8 ppg on 39% basically playing a free flow tryout team as the Knicks, then I would have to say him playing beyond 2011 would shock me.
I'd say we will have a better idea next season. To expect him to be very good coming off MFS is dumb and unfair. If his game picks back up then probably a few more years. If not, then I'd still say probably a few more years. I mean, even on one leg he still can get around 15ppg a night. You'd be nuts to think someone wouldn't sign him. And that doesn't mean a big fat contract.
You my friend are so........CORRECT! T-Mac's playing days are numbered. I would be shocked if he even suits up for the remainder of the season. He won't even get the league's bi-annual exception. He may have to play for Steve Novak type money. Maybe 1 year 740,000. It could have all been avoided, but that is a story for another day.
T-Mac ain't even being played anymore by D'Antoni. They don't trust his injured knee to play 1 minute of ball. At least Adelman gave him 8 minutes.
Like all great ones to ever play in the NBA, Tracy McGrady will not stop until he advances to the second round.
Dude, you value the NBA way too highly. A high percentage of teachers, doctors and many others have accomplished far far more than T-Mac. What's your standard of accomplishment? Bringing cheers (followed by disillusionments), getting to the first round in the playoffs, scoring the most points in a season? I'd say one doctor doing one serious operation accomplishes more than T-Mac ever will as a basketball player.
so you are essentially calling traci and tim grover dumb b/c both of those dudes said over and over again that traci was 100% ready to go.
It's a hell of a lot harder to become a professional NBA player than it is to become a Doctor or Teacher. I'm pretty sure that's what he was alluding to.
2 years tops. But I have a better question: Over/und on how long will the constant McGrady threads continue to pop up on this forum AFTER McGrady retires? Lets start at 2 years after he retires......I'm saying OVER
Mike D didn't know that Tmac had a license to Ill. They were willing to drink that brass monkey to get lebron. Rick the Ruler knew about that la di da di.
uhmm, you are absolutely right in the sense that playing basketball really isn't a life accomplishment. But here, I am talking about the donations T-Mac made. The humanitarian work he did made him a better person than all of us.
I'd have to concur with this astute realization. I never thought of it that way, but you'd think given the motivation for contract and to prove Houston wrong, he'd be doing a hell of a lot better. His first game back was cool, and people were all, "T-Mac is Back!", but he quickly fizzled out. Kind of sad, to think what could have been have you given his body to a guy like Scola who has a work horse mentality. He'd have been something special. RIP T-Mac...Hello Tracy McGrady.
you're reaching now. the topic is how long will tmac remain in the nba, not trying to put his mug up there with mother theresa there are alot of nba players who do charity work, Mutumbo, Kenny Smith, Barkley, etc etc etc but this is absolute desperation for tracy fans. Poster: Tracy wont make it longer in the nba Tmac fan: But's richer than you'll ever be, plus he's a humanitarian, plus he's taller than you.
