i witness Juwan's crappy jumper in person in section 126 on saturday. the horror. part of me says if Stromile and Juwan had a shooting contest, Stromile might win.
Normally I don't respond to such ignorant posters like you, but since the J-Ho hating trolls are at it again, I feel compelled to do so. And what's your definition of quite often? If Juwan Howard has had so many 0-fers, then how could he have shot 45% two years ago and 46% last year? Howard is a jump-shooter mostly, so if he can shoot near 50%, that tells me HE'S A PRETTY CONSISTENT JUMP SHOOTER. You're just pulling crap out of your a$$. Of course he wasn't playing well before the injury this year. So that's it? A couple of 0-fers and you think Padgett or Novak is an upgrade to him? If Novak goes 0-4 from 3pt land tomorrow, are you going to say he's not a consistent 3pt shooter? With your logic, Padgett is a bad 3pt shooter because he went 1-6 from three against the Grizzlies. No RocketsMac, I post on a Rockets forum, yet I've never seen a single Rockets game ever. I just took a wild guess that we made the playoffs two years ago against the Mavs and Howard was out with a heart ailment. Maybe I should ask you that question, because jump-shots, hook-shots, and fade-aways consist of his offensive game. You're acting like J-Ho has never contributed to the team offensively. Then how did he average 12 pts a game last year? That's right, with jumpers and post-up plays. Perhaps you are the one that's never seen him play. Besides, you didn't even read my post correctly. I was comparing J-Ho to Novak, so I said J-Ho has better post-up moves than Novak. I didn't say Howard has a great post-up game, just that it's better than Novak's. You've still yet to show me why Novak has better post-up moves than him... and you can't, because Novak has never posted up in his NBA career. Once again, I was comparing J-Ho's rebounding to Novak's rebounding. I didn't say J-Ho is a great rebounder defensively or offensively. All I said is that it's better than Novak. My whole point here was to show you guys that Howard is an upgrade to Novak at the PF position. For the third freaking time, I never said J-Ho has a great b-ball IQ, but that it is higher than Novak's. Ironically, the player you described above fits a younger Yao a lot more than it fits Howard. Yao is doing awesome obviously, but he still has the problem of holding the ball after the post-up entry pass. He does nothing for like five seconds, the team accomplishes nothing for those five seconds, and the double-team comes over and forces a Yao turnover. Instead, (like Hakeem) he should immediately make a move right after he catches the ball. By the time the defense tries to double him, it's too late. Yao's already got the shot off. Fortunately, Yao is getting better with this somewhat. You ignorant fool! If you're going to make statements like that, you better back it up with facts. But of course, you can't... because you're dead wrong, and you're a J-Ho hater. Howard played in about 75% of the games two years ago, and averaged 26.6 minutes. So if Howard is that terrible of a player, how did we make the playoffs then? Oh wait, you don't know... you're just a hater. You know I'm winning the argument when you resort to the "luck" excuse. Keep in mind, 45% shooter he was that year. The Mavs could not stop a simple pick and roll play that year, so yes, it would've "killed" them. You're losing credibility as we speak. It's either false statements or exaggerations. Typical troll behavior. We've played the Mavs a lot when J-Ho is starting, how come Dirk never went for 100? Sure, he did get 50-something in one game. But that's one game. Hating on J-Ho, yet supporting Ryan Bowen... it's official, you're a troll. Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY can stop Dirk Nowitzky but the Hasselhoff worshiper himself. Dirk for whatever reason wanted to take jumper after jumper that year in the playoffs and was off. If you really think Bowen can stop Dirk if he's driving to the basket and posting up, you're fooling yourself. Meanwhile, Bowen contributes nothing offensively, yet you think he is a better 4 than J-Ho. Just shows how pathetic you are. Something is wrong with you if you seriously think Bowen would have a more positive effect on the Rockets two years ago than Howard. No, go right ahead. Proclaim your happiness to the world that Howard is injured. You would just join about 50 other posters on this board that feel that way. Way to show some class Rockets "fans".
Now there's the example of a serviceable vet. Nothing too fancy, decent all around, occassional great performance when needed. No he's not the best but who in here wouldnt feel more secure with him in the lineup over Howard? Also though remembering back, the rap on him was that he was a perennial loser and his playoff absense reached a historic level and that's what scared people off.
To actually answer the question that was posted by the original thread creator... there is a bit in the Chron this morning that said he did shoot around only yesterday and is questionable for tonight. If he goes inactive, Bonzi will be activated, but likely won't see the court. Link
