Thanks NIKE, unfortunately I like some of the FA options (SAR, Swift, Bell)and to maneuver the roster without them being factored in weakens out options. Ideally you like as many viable options as possible so you don't feel pressure to do any single deal if the cost is more than you like. Also, if the MLE is sliced into two--it just gives teams like Memphis, Portland and Toronto more leverage over the player and potential trading partner. And it also takes someone like Reggie Evans (restricted) completely off the table because Seattle simply would match a half MLE contract. Slicing the MLE in half also makes draft picks--1st and 2nds--more important, as for the most part acquiring starting level players with a few years tread life left will be off the table. Surely the players won't go for this in the new CBA? It would really change the dynamics, and teams already have a lot of power over players with how restricted free agency is set up and it only further stilts the negotiating power towards teams/owners.
